SUBJECT: FINAL ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER
10.44.020 (CURB MARKINGS-MEANINGS-AUTHORITY TO
PLACE) OF THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MUNICIPAL CODE
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Ordinance No. 1567 (2011 Series) amending Chapter 10.44.020 (Curb markings-Meaning-
Authority to Place) of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code amending the time and duration of
operation.
DISCUSSION
The City enforces yellow and white curb markings during the same time of operation as parking
meters. With approval of charging for parking on Sunday, changes to the curb marking regulations
are needed to reflect this.
On July 5, 2011, the City Council received a presentation by staff regarding proposed amendments
to Chapter 10.44.020 (Curb markings-Meanings-Authority to Place) of the San Luis Obispo
Municipal Code to expand the time and duration of operation. At the meeting, the Council voted 5
to 0 to introduce Ordinance No. 1567 (Series 2011) amending Chapter 10.44.020. The ordinance
amendment also includes a minor clean up item allowing passenger loading and unloading zone
duration to be extended from three minutes to ten minutes.
Ordinance No. 1567 (2011 Series) is now ready for adoption and will become effective thirty days
after the date of its final passage.
