Hetland - Prepared by: Gary Henderson ^'`` Public Works Director Utilities Director Civil Engineer SUBJECT Submittal of Plans and Specifications for "Water Main Reconstruction Project: Osos Street - Marsh to Buchon and Pismo Street - Osos to Santa Rosa; City Plan No. N-49P." RECOMMENDATION: Approve Plans and Specifications, Authorize Staff to Advertise for Bids and Authorize CAO to Award Contract. BACKGROUND: This project is required to complete the 10-inch water main distribution loop in this area and will connect to existing 10-inch waterlines at each end. The first portions of this distribution loop were built in 1979 and 1982 and ran along Osos Street from Peach Street to Marsh Street. The project is designed to meet the fire flow requirements for the area and will replace a 4-inch line which is about 70-years old and requires continuLng maintenance. Reconstruction of the water main at this time will recover an estimated $17,000 C of the cost from planned construction projects at the Credit Union and Grace Church. This project was a recognized need but was not included in the Capital Replacement Program this year. Construction costs on other water main projects completed so far have come in approximately $13`,000 under budget estimates. This money can be used to construct the project and avoid delays in the other projects listed above. This project has been given an EIR clearance by the Planning Departmant. Status: Categorical Exemption. SIGNIFICANT IMPACT: Base Bid: $107,050 Contingencies 10,.705 Total: $117,755 Money will need to be transferred from the Water Fund CRP appropriation once bids are received. There is approximately $135,000 at present in other water main project accounts which have already been crmpleted.
