LYT' ,
Dear Mayor Dunin and City Council Members, §-FiLEr
The San Luis Drive Neighborhood Association has formed a task
force consisting ,of Duane Young, Bill Hockey, and Bonnie
6arritano, After several long meetings, we have agreed to
suppport the Planning Commission' s proposals and guidelines
regarding the rezoning of the creekside of upper Monterey
Street, with the exception of items #6 and #12.
These two items refer to the establishment of creekside
trails. We are adamant in our belief that such a trail is
totally inappropriate in this area, and we agree with tine
position taken by the motel owners as represented by Rob
Strong.
We are engaged in a dialogue with Rob Strong regarding -the
issue of parking at the rear of the commercial properties and
we hope to reach an agreemant by Tuesday evening. This would
change the wording in his proposals #1 and #8.
Regarding the placement of windows facing San Luis Creek
(Strong' s #22. ) 9 if total screening of commercial buildings from
residential properties were required, window placement would
not be a problem.
Regarding the written notice (Section 4 of the draft
ordinance) , we prefer: The City will provide written ,
notification, at least one week in advance, to all property
owners. . .
The commercial and residential property owners are nearly in
agreement over the development of this sensitive area, but
they are definitely united in their opposition to the
creekside trail !
We look forward -to our meeting of February- 7, 1989.
Sincerely,
cc: . P1Ike Multari
