Subject: Consideration of an ordinance to amend the Mass Transportation Committee
Terme of Office
CAO Recommendation: Introduce ordinance to print as recommended
Background:
The Mass Transportation Committee (MTC) is an advisory body to the City Council for
transit-related matters.
The current MTC ordinance requires modification in order to be consistent with the
Advisory Body Handbook, which was adopted by the City Council in October, 1988. The
two ordinance modifications are:
MTC terms of office would be changed from two years to four years, and
a MTC member may serve no more than two consecutive terms rather than four
consecutive terms.
The proposed ordinance is attached.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS
Alternative One: Introduce ordinance to print. The is the recommended
alternative. The proposed changes to the ordinance are necessary for the ordinance
to be consistent with the City's Advisory Body Handbook
Alternative Two: Do not introduce the ordinance to print. The ordinance will
ruin inconsistent with the City's Advisory Body Handbook.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.20, SECTION 2.20.030,
OMASS TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE TERMS OF OFFICE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2.20, Section 2.20.030 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal
Code, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2.20.030 TERMS OF OFFICE
A. Terms of office shall be four years. A member may serve for no more
than two consecutive full terms (eight years). Terms shall be staggered and
shall commence on April lot.
B. Vacancies shall be filled by the council for unexpired terms."
SECTION 2. This ordinance, approved by the City Attorney, together with
the ayes and noes, shall be published at least three (3) days prior to its
final passage in the Telegram-Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in
said City, and the same shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty (30)
days after its said final passage.
