Thanks, Dixie Cliff • 1 Regarding Budget Priorities for 2013-2015 Financial Pla n Dear Madame Mayor and City Council Members : Item #5 60% of the public consider Alcohol related crimes and problems downtown "ver y serious" or "somewhat serious ." SOD urges funding for development of planning mechanisms for "setting the appropriat e mix" of bars and retail . I am very concerned regarding the many, long term, empty stor e fronts downtown . Between the retrofits, the damage and detritus caused by drunks an d homeless, and the outrageous rents charged by owners, the local retailers struggle to keep their doors open . The city (the chamber and/or the downtown business assoc .) need to recruit necessity goods stores like department store, grocery store, meat market, hardwar e store, plus businesses that attract more tourists, such as art and craft galleries . Thanks for your attention to these matters tonight . Sincerely , Dixie and Ivan Cliff •
