Dear Council Members ,
I am writing to endorse RQN's letter regarding the continued needs for Neighborhood Wellness to be a to p
priority in this round of budget considerations .
While the RQN letter mentioned the perennial issues of noise ordinance enforcement, blight prevention, an d
parking district enforcement in our congested neighborhoods with high rates of college-age students living i n
houses constructed for single-families, there is another issue that needs to be attended to : police patrolling th e
neighborhoods on a regular basis--even during vacation periods (like Christmas to New Year's). We had to
twice make a police report during this "off-season" (for students) because of vandalism/theft occurring outsid e
O ur residence . In terms of dollar amounts ($25 for California flag times 2) it was not much ; in terms o f
symbolism and traditional values of residential safety and tranquility, the fear is that this residence is bein g
targeted because of activists involved with RQN .
