COMMUNICATION
TO: Council Colleagu
FROM: Penny Rappa
SUBJECT. INTER-AGENCY SCHOOLS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
In June of 1989 I proposed the idea of an advisory committeeconsisting of the County,
the Cities of San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay and the San Luis Unified School District.
The purpose of the committee was information sharing. We sometimes plan in a
vacuum, totally. unintentionally.
The SL.O City Council approved the concept-but unfortunately it lacked support from
some other agencies.
During the last few weeks, I have received several phone calls regarding school busing
concerns. Maybe it is again an appropriate time for Council to give direction to staff
to coordinate a reporting mechanism or formulation of a committee or commission to
address these concerns as well as others related to development and school districts
issues.
It also might be appropriate to include. Cuesta and Cal Poly.
Any questions or comments, give me.:a call.
