Subject: SLO Skatepark
Hello there, first off I wanted to let it be known how appreciative I am, along with the rest of the skate community, of
our new park. My name is Adam Ottenberg and I am an employee of Skate Warehouse, and also skate for teams such as
Bacon Skateboards, Filament Brand Shoes, and also Skate Warehouse. Being from and living in Cayucos, we have our
ramp that has had a presence in our town for well over a decade. It has been such an incredible thing in my life, and has
been such a positive thing for our skate community. Running with a strong local impact, that goes as far as fixing the
ramp when needed, picking up trash, and making sure drinking, smoking etc goes on elsewhere. That being said, the
presence of core skateboarders in the SLO area have the same attitude towards our new SLO park. It is very unfortunate
there are kids, who don't seem to have jobs or any other guidance, using SLO park as a place to look like hoodlums, drink
and smoke openly and leave trash. Myself and the others, who attended the meeting this past Thursday, are all
skateboarders who take what we do with pride and simply do it for the love of it. Not only does it keep us fit, happy and
brings us together, but it also keeps our skills sharp and up to par. for myself I am grateful because I do attend going on
tours with my sponsors, and having a place to spend time and skate with my friends at SLO park is something we do not
take for granted. We have worked and waited so hard and long for this park to come, and has exceeded our
expectations. I just hope that it is known that myself and such a large group of other core skateboarders, are willing to
help enforce the no smoking /drinking, picking up trash etc. Anything that can be done to keep our park, unfenced, no
monitors and free, we are here to listen and help keep it this way. Thank you for listening and I'm sure we will all be in
touch in the near future.
