Yes we realize Realtors and Chamber of Commerce reject this. We have lived here for fifty years and raised 3 children here we love SLO. we are very much aware of slum landlords my husband taught at Cal Poly for 30 years. In 1970's we were subjected to many student disturbances and bad actions. After we joined RQN and had a meeting with the local police things really improves we have not experienced unacceptable behavior now for at least 10 years. We do not dislike students we just need to let them know bad behavior does not endear them to local people. They need to know also they are guest in our town and should behave as guest in order to be fully accepted by locals. There are always a few that label them all as bad students and we know this is not true. Quite a few Cal Poly Professors that own these rentals some are slum landlords! Charles had students tell him this! It is true he has been retired for 15 years but things have not changed that much in rentals. A great deal of these rental properties want the renters to buy them for them but do not want to do any needed repairs! Greed,Greed. We do not agree with some of these landlords taking such advantage of the students. If we want respect from them we need to show them respect. Irene Quinlan
