The California cities that have put a rental inspection program into place have seen huge positive changes in their cities. As far as I know, none have cancelled their program. 2. The landlords who are against rental inspection may have good reasons to fear it. I am a landlord, and I would welcome an inspector any day because my condominium is in excellent condition and has been rented to the same family for five years. It seems to me that any responsible landlord would welcome such a program. 3. The tenants who object to being "invaded" (once in 3 years!) are lucky tenants who can afford to pay a high rent, and who have not been forced to live in one of the slums proliferating in SLO. Their objection is self - centered and baseless. 4. Craig's list is full of ads for outrageously priced slums. Unbridled greed rules in SLO because too many landlords live elsewhere; it is high time to place the tenant's well -being and safety ahead of greed and indifference. 5. Finally, the rental inspection program put together by Derek Johnson and Rafael Comejo is excellent. I urge you to support it. Sincerely, Odile Ayral San Luis Obispo Y RECEIVED MAY 6 6 2015 SLO CITY CL ILK COUNCIL MEETING: -p - a ITEM NO.:
