ABSENT: None. STAFF: Director Paul LeSage, Robin Perrin, Nicole Adler and Ashley Blake. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES: The minutes of the December 1, 2004 and January 5, 2005 meetings were approved as submitted. 1. Volunteer of the Month Chair Dunan presented Chuck Oldham as the Volunteer of the Month. 2. Fingerprinting Requirement for Facility Users Nicole Adler, Teen and Senior Recreation Coordinator, presented this staff report. Commission discussed the item. Recommendation: Endorse the staff policy requiring all youth-serving organizations that use the City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation facilities to have a mandatory fingerprinting policy in place by July 1, 2005. (Knight/Pyper, 2:5 Clay and Griffin, opposed). 3. Major City Goals Director Paul LeSage reported and discussed the results from the Major City Goal Workshop held January 29, 2005. 4. Staff Reports Robin Perrin, Aquatic Recreation Supervisor, presented this staff report on a new swim program offered at the pool. 5. Directors Report LeSage briefed the Commission on the following projects: Project Updates Upcoming Commission Items “Entrada” Area Concept Plan Concept to Better Utilize Sport Fields Mardi Gras and the Department’s Role Commissioners Training Staff Appointment Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes for February 2, 2005 Page 2 6. Committee Reports Commissioners gave reports on Committees they attended. Tree Committee – Dollar Joint Use Committee – Mayors Youth Task Force – Adler/Dunan Jack House Committee – Pyper Open Space – Dollar Golf - Lemieux Therapy Pool – Landscape Parkways- 7. Communications Bill Pyper noted that he tried to emphasize the value Advisory Bodies have to the Council in his write up in the Tribune article. 8. Adjourned The meeting adjourned at 9:17 pm to the February 26, 2005 Commissioner’s Training meeting.
