HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-14-01 JHC Minutes JACK HOUSE COMMITTEE MINUTES WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2001 PARKS AND RECREATION OFFICE, 1341 NIPOMO STREET, SAN LUIS OBISPO CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Chair Batterson, Committee Members Wes Conner, Bonnie Marzio, Penny Rappa, Marion Rodman, and Martha Schwartz. VISITORS: Docents: Jackie Cane, Betty Stockton STAFF: Rich Ogden, Larry Tolson, Heather Freebairn PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: There was no public comment. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT: The minutes of the October 10, 2001 meeting were approved with the following amendment:  Item #4- Cal Poly poinsettias should read “12 Cal Poly poinsettias…” The financial report of October, November 2001, was accepted as presented. Item #1: Christmas Open House and Christmas Tree Pros and cons were discussed as to the use of a live Christmas Tree vs. an artificial Christmas Tree. Ten solar luminaries purchased to light walk ways. Holiday decoration theme: Snowmen On a motion by Rappa, seconded by Marzio, the Committee voted 4:2 to purchase an artificial tree. On a motion by Rappa, seconded by Connor, the Committee voted 5:1, the Jack House Committee will purchase a live tree to be used for current holiday season, 2001. Batterson, Conner, and Rappa will purchase the live tree and have it delivered by November 29, 2001. Jack House will be decorated for the holidays on November 29, 2001 at 9:00am. Ten Cal Poly poinsettias will be delivered. Staff member Tolson will provide winter greenery, to be delivered on November 29, 2001. There are thirty-six docents available to work during the holiday season. Holiday decorations will be taken down on Tuesday, December 4, 2001. Item #2: Jack House Calendar Committee reviewed the draft for the Jack House Calendar. The calendar has been adopted except for the following changes:  July 07, 2002 – Concert in the Garden and Jack House Tours 1-4 pm.  July 11, 2002 – No Docent Meeting.  August 04, 2002 – Jack House Open House.  August 07, 2002 – Delete Jack House Committee Meeting, 7 pm @ PR Admin . Office.  August 11, 2002 – Art in the Garden and Jack House Tours 12-5 pm.  August 14, 2002 – Jack House Committee Meeting, 7 pm. @ PR Admin Office.  October 09, 2002 – Jack House Committee Meeting 4 pm @ SLO City Corp. Yard and Jack House Docent Appreciation Dinner, 5:30 pm, City Corp. Yard.  December 01, 2002 – Jack House Regular Tour  December 04, 2002 – Decorate Jack House 9 am., Open House  December 05, 2002 – Delete Candlelit Tour for Regular Tour, 2-5 pm.  December 06, 2002 – Christmas Parade, Candlelit Tour 4-7 pm.  December 12, 2002 – Docent Meeting 10 am. and Regular Tour 1-4 pm.  December 22, 2002 – Jack House Tour 1-4 pm. Item #3: Staff Report Staff Member Ogden reported on the following:  Piano stringing has been delayed due to the special order of some of the strings.  Jack House Inventory Project will go forward in January. Parks and Recreation Department will use a staff person to carry forth this project.  Power Point Press-Kiwanis would like to schedule an event for May.  January 1, 2002 parking for service vehicles only  No Jack House Committee Meeting in the month of December.  Name Tags have been created.  Rocking Chair has been repaired Committee Member Rappa would like a quarterly and annual attendance report. Item #4 Committee Bylaws Due to time constraints, the Committee decided to postpone the discussion on the Bylaws. Item # 5 First Annual Interior and Exterior Jack House Facilities Report Staff Member Tolson has completed the Interior and Exterior Facilities Report and submitted the report as an attachment to the agenda. Other items of concern brought forward by Committee Members:  Request for a baseboard heater in the Jack House Gift Shop.  Pull-shade in Josephine’s Room.  Water drainage Meeting was adjourned at 9:13 pm. to the January 9, 2002 meeting at 7:00 pm.
