Jack House Committee
MINUTES
Parks and Recreation Administrative Office
Wednesday, February 11, 2004 5:30 PM
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Vice Chair Wes Conner, Committee Members Gerry Johnson, Bill Pyper, Marion
Rodman, Martha Schwartz, and John Tischler
STAFF: Rich Ogden and Larry Tolson
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD:
There was no public comment.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT:
The minutes of January 14, 2004 meeting were approved.
The Financial Report for January 2003 was presented and accepted.
ITEM #1: Filming of the Jack House
Guest, Joan Sullivan reported on her plans to create a film about the Jack House and San Luis Obispo
Adobes.
Ms. Sullivan hopes to receive a grant for the filming project.
ITEM #2: Jack House Calendar
The following adjustments were made to the 2004 Jack House Events Calendar.
May concert and tours will be from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
July Docent Meeting will be held on the 8th.
August Art in the Garden will be held 1:00 – 5:00 pm and the Jack House Tours will be
from 1.00 – 4.00 pm on the 22nd.
November 11th will be November’s Docent meeting.
December 5th, the Jack House will be open for tours at its regularly scheduled tour from
1:00 – 4:00 pm; 9th at 10:00 am will be the Holiday decoration set up; December 10th & 11th
will be the official Holiday Open House with the candle lighting from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.:
ITEM #3: Electricity in front of the Jack House
Two bids were made to install an electric outlet by the Jack House sign and another electric outlet on
the side of the front steps closer to the drive way.
All wires will be underground.
An update on the project will be made at the March Jack House Committee meeting.

Monthly Activities
Tolson reported on the following:
The roof project has been put on hold until April.
Repair work on the iron mantle piece is being completed.
Alarm sensor on the repaired window has been completed.

Ogden reported on the following:
Rich will not be at the March meeting. Kim Walker will be available.
Docent Activities
Schwartz reported on the following:
Docents have a concern there is not enough publicity for the Jack House and
Gardens.
Would like to review Mothers Day publicity plan at the March meeting.
Schwartz has been invited to give Jack House information presentations to two
community organizations.
A request for a paid ad to recruit for docents was made.
Docents made a list of all the supplies needed for the December holidays.
An effort will be made to get volunteers from local schools to sing Christmas carols.
The 2004 Holiday theme will be “Gingerbread”.
Member Comments
Pyper has completed the family tree and will distribute copies at the March meeting.
Tishler reported work on the new fence has not yet started. Larry Tolson will
contact Pete Watson.
Tishler would like to plan a volunteer Spring work day in the Gardens.
Communications
There were no communications.
Meeting adjourned at 6:50 pm to the March 10, 2004 meeting at Parks and Recreation Administration Office
at 5:30 pm.
