MINUTES
Special Meeting
Parks and Recreation Administrative Office
Wednesday, May 11, 2005 5:30 PM
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 5.30 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Vice Chair Wes Conner, Committee Members Bill Pyper, John Tishler and Richard
Dresp
ABSENT: Gerry Johnson
STAFF: Rich Ogden and Larry Tolson
GUESTS: Betty Stockton and Keena Michelle
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD:
There was no public comment.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT:
The minutes of April 2005 meeting were approved with two corrections.
Docent Activities: Ken Schwartz spelling was corrected.
Docent Activities: Ken Schwartz donated place settings, not just plates.
The Financial Report for April 2005 were presented and accepted.
ITEM #1: Rain Policy
A motion was made the Jack House is to remain open during all advertised
openings. The motion was passed unanimously.
The official policy regarding rain will be published in the official Docent Handbook.
ITEM #2: Update on Brochure
There has not been significant work completed for the Jack House brochures.
Parks and Recreation staff may not have an update available until August or September
2005.
Reports and Updates
Monthly Activities
o Ogden reported Beckers Draperies, Inc. removed all the curtains and shades from the
Jack House on May 11, 2005. The process took over six hours.
o Ogden stated that the cleaning crew will now be called in to thoroughly clean the Jack
House.
o Tolson had nothing to report at this time.

Docent Activities
Richard Dresp reported on the following items:
o Dresp requested that City maintenance place a weather strip on the main gift shop door.
o The Mothers Day event was very successful. Docents had 108 children and adult visitors
tour the Jack House.
o New carpet has been installed in the Gift Shop.
o The Docents have received tickets for the Victorian Game Day. Each Docent will be
responsible for selling 10 tickets. Cost of the tickets is $7/adult and $4/child.
o The Martha Schwartz memorial plaque has arrived, but has not yet been mounted.
o The next media day is scheduled for July 6, 2005 at noon. Invitations will be mailed out
on June 1, 2005 with a request for RSVP.
o A request was made that a light path be in place in time for the Holiday tours this winter.
Member Comments
o Tishler reported that the Martha Schwartz memorial planter wall bench plans have been
submitted to the Maintenance Department. Maintenance will confirm with City
Standards and then move forward in securing a contractor once the Committee has
approved plans.
o Conner offered the Jack House Committee volunteers help on any special events is
Docents feel they need extra assistance.
o Conner requested a cement footing for the Martha Schwartz memorial bird bath be
included in the plans.
o Pyper reported that the next Parks and Recreation Commission meeting will be held on
May 25, 2005 at noon at the Parks and Recreation Administration building.
o Pyper reported the Damon Garcia dedication ceremony will be held on May 27, 2005 at
4.00 pm.
o Conner reported that he is currently looking for a replacement tree for the
Pittosporum Tobria (standard).

o No communications were presented.
