Recommended viewing; Ron Coombs needs an agent! 2. Chamber of Commerce Grand Opening: That same day the Chamber opened its new offices, two blocks closer to City Hall and - at ground level - even more accessible than their previous HQ at Chorro and Higuera. 3. CAPSLO Boqrd: On Thursday, April l8 the Board held their regular meeting. It went very late as most of the discussion centered on our response to recent allegations in a local blog that continue to claim significant criminal activity is taking place in CAPSLO Homeless Services. A special meeting of the Board is to be held TOMORROW, May 8 in order to continue this discussion with our corporate legal counsel. 4. Arbor Day: On Saturday, April 20 the City hosted Arbor Day - one of my favorite events. 5. HEAL SLO Forum on Regulation of Sugary Soft Drinks: HEAL SLO, which advocates for healthy eating and active living, devoted an evening to a discussion of how sug¿ìry soft drinks are endangering children's health. 'We heard from a representative of the City of Richmond, which attempted to impose a tax on these items but failed in the November election. 6. EVC Board: April 22 the EVC Board met and heard an update on regional economic conditions; all systems "go". 7. League of Cities Channel Counties Division: I attended the regional meeting of this group in Moorpark and heard a presentation from Assemblymember Jeff Gonell of Simi Valley, as well as an update from our Division League represerntative Dave Mullinax. 8. Reqional Transit Authority: Wednesday, May I I attended the RTA board as Mayor Marx's alternate. The RTA budget was the main subject of discussion. Afterward I spoke with RTA and SLOCOG staff and requested an update on funding the SLO Downtown Regional Transit Center EIR. The SLOCOG budget, which will be adopted this month, does not presently include such funding; it is my strong recommendation that we urge the SLOCOG Board to do so. The RTA agenda and staff reports are also in the Council office. 9. Water Resources Advisorv) Committee: 'Wednesday, May 1 I attended the meeting of the WRAC at the City-County Library. The agenda included further discussion of the IRV/M, the FCV/CD budget, and the PR Groundwater Basin Management Plan. The V/RAC is recommending goals and objectives for the IRV/M consistent with the city's priorities. The full agenda is in the Council offrce. TO Council Liaison Report 5 7 20l3.doc.docx
