HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-14-07 JHC MinutesG:\Everyone\Jack House\Minutes\2007\03.07 JHMinutes.DOC Jack House Committee MINUTES Parks and Recreation Administrative Office Wednesday, March 14, 2007 5:30 PM CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. ROLL CALL: Committee Members Gerry Johnson, and Betty Stockton ABSENT: Bill Pyper and Patrick Mayeda GUESTS: Jackie Kane, Kathi Settle, Toni Kincaid and Bob Gordon STAFF: Christine Wallace PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: There was no public comment. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT: The minutes of February 2007 meeting were approved with two corrections. The Financial Report for February 2007 was approved. . ITEM #1: Swearing in of Kathi Settle & Bob Gordon • Kathi Settle & Bob Gordon were sworn in as new Jack House Committee Members by Christine Wallace. ITEM #2 Budget for House Preservation • Kane requested approximately $300 for preservations supplies for the first year. A list of items was suggested by Cal Poly’s Preservationist, Catherine Trujillo. Batterson made a motion to allocate $300 for the docents to use towards obtaining house preservation supplies for Jack House items. The motion was passed unanimously. Reports and Updates • Monthly Activities – Staff/Public Works o Wallace reported the Jack House was professionally cleaned by Service Masters on March 12, 2007. Cleanings will take place on a quarterly basis. o Wallace asked that Docents provide her with a detailed list of cleaning items that were missed from the March 12th cleaning by Service Masters. o Wallace reported that Betsy Kaiser, Parks and Recreation Director, had requested a Public Works representative attend Jack House meetings at least once a quarter. Todd Beights or Andrew Collins will be the regular Public Works staff liaisons. Mike McGuire may also attend meetings to provide updates on the Jack House sprinkler project. • Docent Activities Jackie Kane reported on the following items: o New Docents officers were elected: o President: Toni Kincaid Jack House Committee Minutes for March 14, 2007 Page 2 of 2 G:\Everyone\Jack House\Minutes\2007\03.07 JHMinutes.DOC o Vice President: Carolynn Palmer o Secretary: Pam Hurd o Docents approved new bylaws. o An updated Docent roster will be mailed out soon. Toni Kincaid reported on the following items: o The tour and tea with The Manse on Marsh residents is scheduled for April 4th at 1:00 pm. The tea will be held at the J. Henry Manor. Kincaid would like to schedule a tour and tea at least once a month with other assisted living facilities. • Member Comments o Batterson requested information about a possible presentation given by Cal Poly’s Preservationist, Catherine Trujillo, in the near future. o Stockton would like the Jack House committee to be actively involved in preservation activities for Jack House items. o Johnson reported on the memorial service for Wes Conner held on March 11, 2007. o Johnson reported that the next Mayor’s Task Faorce meeting will be held on April 12th. o Settle had an old Docent handbook from the early 1980’s and shared it with everyone. o Settle announced how happy she is to now be on the Jack House Committee. She was on the Obispo Beautiful Committee when the City received the Jack House. o Gordon would like to oversee the projects Wes Conner was working on before he left the Jack House Committee. The new fence project will be paid for by the Monday Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo. The annual Rotary fundraiser will be dedicated to historical sites. o Stockton requested information from the Fire Marshal on the official number of people allowed in the house at one time. o Batterson reported the committee elections will be held in April. Batterson offered to stay on as Chair and Johnson volunteered as Vice Chair. Both positions are open for others if they would like to volunteer as well. o Johnson reported City Council Members, Vice Mayor Allen Settle and Mayor Dave Romero have been selected to be the City Council liaisons to the Jack House. • Communications No communications were presented. Meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m. to the April 11, 2007 Parks and Recreation Administration Building at 5:30 pm.
