ROLL CALL: Committee Members: Patrick Mayeda, Kathi Settle, Bob Gordon, Betty Stockton and Kylie Hatch ABSENT: Chair Ron Batterson and Gerry Johnson STAFF: Christine Wallace GUESTS: Toni Kincaid PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD There were no public comments. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES MOTION: (Mayeda/Settle) Approve the March 9, 2011 minutes as noted. Approved: 5 yes: 0 no: 2 absent (Batterson, Johnson) CONSIDERATION OF FINANCIAL REPORT MOTION: (Mayeda/Hatch) Approve the March 9, 2011 Financial Report as submitted. Approved: 5 yes: 0 no: 2 absent (Batterson, Johnson) REGULAR ITEMS 1. Oath of Office Deputy City Clerk Sue Chippendale gave the Oath of Office to returning Commissioner Kathi Settle. 2. Review of By-Laws - Mayeda Commissioners reviewed by-laws presented and amended the name of the San Luis Obispo County History Center. MOTION: Accept by-laws as amended. Elections - Mayeda Ron Batterson and Patrick Mayeda are interested to continue serving as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Jack House Committee. MOTION: Elect Batterson as Chair and Mayeda as Vice-Chair of the Jack House Committee. (Hatch/Gordon) Approved: 5 yes: 0 no: 2 absent (Batterson, Johnson) 4. Request for Funds - Kincaid Kincaid presented photos of the wash house improvements and staging vignettes that are being created to encourage guests to continue the tour into the Wash House Gift Shop. Kincaid requested $500 to finance new merchandise for the gift shop to include cards, magnets, purses and vases. The money is being funded from the Jack House Fund. MOTION: Allocate $500 to the gift shop. (Mayeda/Hatch) Approved: 5 yes: 0 no: 2 absent (Batterson, Johnson) 5. Staff Reports and Updates: Parks and Recreation/Public Works Wallace reported on the following: The new gift agreement has been completed with updated information and shared with the Commissioners. The Annual Park Tour date will be held either June 22 or June 23. The Jack House Committee may continue to hold a June meeting (June 8) in addition to the Park Tour and hold no meeting in the month of July. The committee agreed to this schedule. Mother’s Day Concert advertising and event supplies will come out of the promotional budget with an approximate cost of $3150. The Jack House sewer main has been replaced for the public restrooms and the project should be completed by the end of the week. 6. Docent Activities Kincaid reported on the following: The Wash House Gift Shop will debut its new look for the Monday Club tour on Sunday, May1. Three new contacts have been made regarding volunteering as a docent. Buggy shed dust boards have been installed and will be painted soon. Electrical in the buggy shed is also in the works. 7. Member Comments/Communications Mayeda – Caulking of the front fence at post caps. Stockton – Would like a hard copy of the yearly calendar. Meeting adjourned at 6:06 p.m. Next meeting is May 11, 2011 at 5:30 pm at the San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Administration Office.
