Gazebo plans are in Public Works. Once the plan check is complete the subcommittee can
review, estimate costs and begin planning fundraising for the project.
4. Docent Activities
Mulliner reported on the following:
Victorian Tea budget listed $1,000 as necessary for event supplies and estimating $200 in profit.
Committee members expressed concern over the amounts budgeted for linens and promotional
costs, feeling that both may cost more than listed. The committee agreed that up to $1800 would be
an appropriate estimate for the event budget.
Flower Show on June 7 had 153 tours of the Jack House and $130 spent in the gift shop.
5. Member Comments/Communications
Gordon – flower show was successful, 90 were served at lunch in the garden and the site was well
used for the event as displays were spread across the garden, in the buggy shed on the front and rear
porches and inside the house. It was organized by the Montana de Oro district of California Garden
Club. The show was interpretive, which is rare, but because of the Jack House interior the
arrangements were to be traditional if placed inside.
Gordon – Can the name be officially changed from the “buggy shed” to the “carriage house”?
Stockton – How would the carriage house be used for future events? Wallace responded that
because of the buggy storage, the carriage house would not be available for public rental or events,
only internal events such as the Victorian Christmas would it be open.
Meeting adjourned at 6:04 p.m. Next meeting is August 10, 2011 at 5:30 pm at the San Luis
Obispo Parks and Recreation Administration Office.
