I wanted to send you a quick note on agenda item C -4 for tonights agenda. Ratifying the 2 year contract with SLODA. As a newly appointed board member I have had the chance to see first hand how important this association is to the vitality of our Downtown and our city. Given the Downtown area produces the largest amount of tax revenue (sometimes 2nd most depending on the LOVR businesses) it is vital that we maintain a cohesive vision. A well done Downtown needs constant attention, just like a business. Dominic and his staff provide the research and plan implementation necessary to keep our Downtown relevant. Since joining the Board I have also joined three committees: Economic Development, Parking and Access, and the newly formed committee Issues /Evaluation. The DA allows myself as business owner a voice within the community. Without the DA I do not believe our Downtown would be as popular as it is. I really cannot be happier with how motivated everyone is and the ideas that are generated. Not to mention maintaining and evolving the Farmers Market and events within our Downtown. Which is such a phenomenal draw for people outside of area and within our community. I was hoping to talk in person, but I will be attending the EPS ban agenda item at 4. Making me unable to come back for the Contract agenda. I want to thank you all for working so well with our Association. I have really enjoyed our interactions and the ability to help in the continued evolution of our city. I imagine at times your job can be somewhat thankless, but it is your continued dedication that has helped our community to thrive. Having grown up in this town, lived in other areas and traveled to other countries I am still in love with little SLO. That is because we are a community that is able to adapt and continually bring new ideas in to practice. I firmly believe it is the Associations and Gov't bodies that are to thank for that. They give us as community members a unified voice and vision. See you all in a couple hours!
