Met with Police Chief Stephen Gesell regarding plans for increased patrol and police presence in the Downtown Met with the Future Engagement subcommittee of SLOCOG with Verdin Design and Tom O'Malley and Frank Mecham regarding new mission statement and logo for SLOCOG. Met with Supervisor Adam Hill and city staff regarding the update to the Airport Land Use Commission Master Plan and economic consequences for the city. Addressed Cal Poly Regional and Urban Planning class at the invitation of Professor William Riggs regarding leadership by elected officials. Attended Badge Ceremony at Fire House #L Met with Eric Veium and Jenna Smith regarding CCAN's recently received grants and general progress at the City Farm on Calle Joaquin. Met with Mark Johnson, new city resident, regarding volunteer opportunities with the city. Attended the Chamber's "Meet the Candidates" forum. Attended the Peace Officers' memorial at Mission Plaza Met with Al Eschenbach, auditor, regarding the CAFR and upcoming city council meeting. Attended the SCLC meeting and President's Community Service Awards ceremony at Cal Poly. Attended the ribbon cutting and opening of the Childrens Resource Network clothing store at Pacific Beach High School and presented student volunteers with certificates of recognition for their work. May 1-7 Met with Cal Poly ASI officers and Governmental Relations Director regarding ways to facilitate Breater student involvement in City activities and ways to improve public image of Cal Poly students in the community. May 20 Met with City Staff in preparation for our request to Cal JIPA for better financial terms for liability and workers' compensation insurance at their Executive Meeting in LaPalma May 22,2013, which we attend. ANNOUNCEMENTS May 20June L8 Special All Mail ln Election, Ballots accepted at City Hall. May 23 5 pm Ribbon Cutting at the Warden Bridge over San Luis Creek at Mission Plaza 6pm Candidates' Forum at City Hall, moderated by the League of Women Voters May 31 I will be in Santa Barbara for a Coast Railroad Coordinating Committee (CRCC) meeting in the morning and Air Pollution Control Central Coast Air Basin meeting in the afternoon. June L-5 I will be representing the City at the lnternational Town-Gown Conference in Buffalo New York. The City and Cal Poly are charter members of this organization.
