The Jack House and Gardens has become an important historical feature to the City and is host to weekly functions from visitors throughout the region in the summer. A major goal of all associated with the Jack House for the past 50 years has been re- moval of the wooden elevator shaft and restoration of the bay window on the south side of the house to its original charm and elegance. This project will help bring back the charm of the original design by Robert Edgar Jack in 1875 and restore the quality of light that has been missing from the dining room and upstairs master bedroom for these many years. The JHC Advisory Body has worked closely with the Paragon architectural firm, which has completed the construction documents and cost estimates for the bay win- dow restoration. The Committee has used their own resourses for completion of this phase of the work. It is anticipated that funding for this project would be a combina- tion of JHC Advisory Body funds, Kathleen Kaetzel's endowment to the Jack House Foundation and the remaining funding from the City which would probably be about 50% of the total costs. Please reconsider this project as a part of the Capital Improvement Program for the next five years. Thank you, Ron Batterson, Previous Chair of the Jack House Advisory Committee Ron Batterson, 2045 Hope St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 E -mail: rbatters @calpoly.edhi
