COUNCIL MEETING:
ITEM NO.:
Bike Plan Implementation Project Changes (Reference pages 3 -119 and 3 -121 in
Capital Improvement Plan Financial Plan document)
At the April 21s' Strategic Budget Direction meeting, the City Council asked staff to return
with an alternative Bike Transportation Plan Implementation CIP proposal. Specifically, the
alternative was to include funding for the Broad Street Bike Boulevard project within the
original $400,000 request.
In addition, Council asked the City Manager to return with recommendations on how to
fund the Octagon Barn project. The recommendation is to provide a total of $50,000; with
$25,000 from the Bike Transportation Plan implementation, and the other $25,000 from
Open Space acquisition.
As a result of the Octagon Barn direction, the original Bike Plan Implementation Project
presented on April 21St, and noted on page 3 -119 of the Capital Improvement Plan; is
changed to reflect an additional $25,000. Therefore the amended original recommendation
is as follows:
BTP Prioritization & Implementation Plan
$5,000
Active Transportation Education & Advocacy Program
$10,000
Highland & Chorro Bicycle Improvements
$20,000
Boysen & Santa Rosa Crossing Project Study Report
$50,000
Prado Rd. Class I Connection - Project Development
$100,000
Chorro & Foothill Bike Box
$10,000
RRST Class I Connection Laurel & Orcutt
$150,000
Bicycle & Pedestrian Grants Support
$30,000
Octagon Barn Support
$25,000
Total: $400,000
In addition, in response to Council direction to include the Broad Street Bike Boulevard as
an alternative within the Bike Transportation Implementation Plan, the original proposal
presented on April 21St was amended as follows. (In addition, note that the alternative
below, including the Bike Boulevard, also includes the aforementioned Octagon Barn
proposal. This recommendation can also be found on page 3 -121 of the Capital
Improvement Plan.)
