Kilbern, Chas. Forbes , L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent 1Y.B.I1artin. . The minutes of Feb. 4th and 11th were read and approved as read on motion of C.I,I.Carpenter seconded by.Geo. VJ..Kilbern. The following applications for permit to -build were granted on motion of Geo. Vi. Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes :. The application of the I,Iission Drug Co for license for Cigar Sideline at 862 lionterey Street was referred to the Commissioner-of Public Health and Safety for report on, motion of Geo.l ,%Kilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes. The merchandising Bond of Rodgers Grocery ( by 1Im.F.Rodgers ) Surety 1- Irs..I.1. Rodgers, was received and referred to the Commissioner of Finance and Revenue on motion of C.I!i.Carpenter seconded by Geo. 1?. Kilbern. The application of M.F.;omo for license for Tamale Parlor at 960 Higuera Str was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of_ Geo.',!. ?Lilbern seconded by Chas. Forbes. Petition of R.C.Ivey for transfer of licenses for Billiards and Pool, Cigars Sideline and Soft Drinks at 1917 1/2 Osos Street-to J.E.Price , was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and-Safety for investigation and report on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by Geo,W.Kilbern. The reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of"January were received and ordered filed on motion of Chas.Forbes seconded by C.IJI.Carpenter. On motion of Chas. Forbes seconded by 0,1L Carpenter applications of the I;Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation Nos. 78 -79 and 80 were referred to the Commissi( er of Public Works for investigation and report. A petition signed by John 17alter et al, calling for the paving of Santa Barbara Avenue between Osos Street and Broad Street was received. Discussion followed. It was moved by C.M.Carpenter and seconded by Chas. Forbes that the City Attorney be directed to draft a Resolution calling for plans and specifications for the improvement of Santa Barbara Avenue as defined in the petition presented ,'and now under discussion, and present at the next meeting. The motion carried. A petition was received from Ira Hodson requesting permission to pave the Southerly side of I!ionterey Street between Torro and Essex Street , except the easterly 95 feet of the said Block. Work to be done by private contract , in accordance with City's plans and specifications and paid for by the respective property owners. On motion of JOY.Carpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes the petition was granted subject to the approval of she Commissioner of Public Works . Petition to be signed by property owners concerned. Communication was received from the Pacific Fire extinguisher Company quoting .)rice on Siren for Fire Truck. On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Geo.Fd. Kilbern ;he.matter was referred to the Commissioner of Supplies with power to act. pr 17 r" 1, r 9 17 On motion of C.I:I.Carpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes the City Clerk was directed to acknowledge receipt of communication from the Santa Barbara Chapter Red Cross relative to the sale of Ambulance , advising that the City of San Luis Obispo is not interested, 1 X91 The matter of merging the Health Department of the City of San Luis Obisp with the County Health Unit was brought before the Council for discussion by the Commission- er of Public Health and Safety and the matter was discussed at length. It was brough out during the discussion that several cases of smallpox existed in the County and that precaution should be taken to prevent the disease becoming epidemic' therefore, it was suggested that a temporary free vaccination clinic be established . It was moved by Chas Forbes and seconded by C.M.Carpenter that the City Board of Health together with Dr:L:F,Bado-er and City Supt. of Schools A.H.I•,Iabley, be invited to meet with the City Counc in informal session '; at 2 o'clock P.I1,I, Tuesday February 19th:_ to consider necessary steps to be taken relative to the matter, The motion carried. On motion of C.L,Carpenter seconded by Chas: Forbes matter in connection with application 71 72 of the I4lidland Counties Public Service Corporation was laid over for one week at the request of LIr Greenleaf. , On motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by Geo.W.Kilbern the application of N.E.Crook for license for Theatrical Entertainment at the 'hinter Garden, 1085 Higuera Str was again laid over for one week. The application of Herrera Bros for license for Boxing Exhibition at 874 1Y2 Higuera Street for February 22d at 8 o'clock Mle was. before the Council. Commissioner C.1I.0arpenter reported favorably on the application and on his motion seconded by Geo,W.Kilbern, it was ord•ered-:-that the•apnlication be granted and that license issue. The petition of C.A,Maino et al., relative to a revision of the "Fire Limits Ordinance" affecting Block 14 was again before the Council. Flatter discussed. On motion of 0.1.1.0arpenter seconded by Chas. Forbes the City-Attorney was directed to draft an amendment to the " Fire Proof Building Limits Ordinance " affecting the idly 1/2 of Block 14 and the Sly 1/2 of Block 15 fronting on Palm Street, to be known as zone # 2 and providing the type of building to be constructed therein. i The application of C.A.Maino for permit to construct a storage room in Block 14 at a Cost of $ 3,000.00 was laid over pending the enactment-of the proposed amendment to the said Ordinance, On motion of C.L•4.Carpenter seconded by ChasOForbes the following licenses were ordered cancelled: 864 - A.R.1�rSmith ................ 11achine Shop 00:00.:... 5000 1151 - Geo.W,Otis 66666:00:9000::6 Garage 0.000000080 10000 1296 - I Urabe 069060099006:0096 Ifeg Peddler 00000000000 5000 1300 - R.R.King ........... :0000.
