go into executive session to determine what action should be taken in reference to the
police department. Motion carried.
Council proceeded into executive session.
It was moved by W.B.13artin and seconded by C.M.Carpenter that the City
Attorney be instructed and directed to prepare findings as discussed by Cour cil. Carried
On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.Ir ?.Carpenter the meeting adjourned to

The following auplications for 'permit to lay curbing and gutter at the a
following named locations were granted on motion of VI.B.Y=tin seconded by C.I.I.Carpentert
C.A.Younalove - loo ft of curbing and gutter on the north side Buchon Street between
Beach and Idipomo Street,
Jos. Donr_ely - 50 ft curbing and gutter on the South sine Buchon Street between Beach
and Idipomo Street, and 48 ft of same on the north side Buchon Street
between Idipomo and Beach Street.
The application of E.S.Henry for -permit to connect with the City Sewer on
Leff Street between Santa Rosa and Toro Street was granted on motion of C.I.I.Carpenter
seconded by W.B.1.1artin
Application of E.A.Shaw for license to conduct a Lunch Counter at 964
Higuera Street and those of Ed I:•iartin and James Scettrini for license for Cigars Sideline
at 891 I:Ionterey Street and 1019 -23 Court Street respectively* , were referred to the Com-
missioner of Public Health and Safety for report on notion of.Chas Forbes seconded by

The application of M.0. Hathway for position as Police Officer and that
of Chester Fulton for position of Traffic Officer were received and ordered placed on file
with applications of a similar nature , on motion of C.II.Carpenter seconded by 1.1!.B.Diartin.
The reports of the Police Judge and the City,Collector for the month of
Iviarch were received and ordered filed on motion of C.Ii. Carp enter seconded by Chas Forbes.
On motion of 17,B.Ivlartin seconded by C.I :T.Carpenter and, carried the
Merchandising Bond of G.C.Bromley was ordered cancelled and Sureties released.
On motion of YI.B.IIartin seconded by C.Ivi.Carpenter the Merchandising Bond of
Henry W.Copp Surety J.Z.;:nderson, was approved and accepted.
The resignation of !Valter B.,Roselip as Street Superintendent was received
requesting that the same become effective not later than April 14th.. On motion of
W.B.Martin seconded by C.I:I.Carpenter the resignation was accepted -as per request.
This being the date set for the receiving of Bids for legal - advertising for
the balance of the fiscal year endin` June 30th 1924 , in accordance with minute order of
March 31st , the following is a list of all bids received:
Tribune Printing: Co :
Twenty cents per inch per insertion , or the equivalent thereof of 35 1/2
cents per insertion , per square of 254 ems nonpareil.
Herald Publishing Co:
Fifteen cents per line first insertion , and five cents per line each
subsequent insertion_. I.Iatter to be set in 6 pt. solid type.
OrdinanceN o. 99 ( New Series ) , An Ordinance establishing Grades on Leff
Street between Osos and Santa Rosa Street was finally passed on motion of W.B.Ilartih second
by C.I.I.Carpenter by the follo:-iing vote:

Upon favorable report and motion of C.I,I.Oarpenter seconded by I.-Y.B.I:iartin
the applications of Rod`ers Grocery , for license for Soft Brinks and Cigars Sideline,
Armond P.Motto Ros for Taxicab and Herrera Bros for Boxing Exhibition April 9th at 8
o'clock P.11., were granted .
W.V.Scott appeared before the Council mad requested that a Fire Hydrant be
installed on Pacific Street between Essex and Johnson Street. The request was granted
on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by C.I.I.Carpenter.
Iiiss Diary Hathway appeared relative to the matter of a certain drain
pipe in the vicinity of I.It Pleasanton Square Addition. The matter was referred to the
Commissioner of Public ',r7orks for report to the Council,
hatters in regard to street paving were deferred on motion of C.M.Carpenter
seconded by FI.B.I.iartin.
Claims against the Cite for the month of I'rIa-rch were ordered paid subject to
the approval of the heads of the respective departments.
