Present : C.1- ?.Carpenter, John Chapek, H.E.Co.x, Chas Forbes. Absent : Llayor 1..F.Sinsheimer. 0 The minutes of July 19th and 26th were read and approved as read on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek. On motion of John Chapek seconded by H.E.Cox the following applications for permit to build were granted: - Marguerite Vollmer - Addn & remodeling Residence Block 201 A - Cost r 19200.00 Henry H.Higuera - Addn porch lot 8 Block 10 Weills Addn " 50.00 The petition of F.W.Keller for transfer oflicense for I,Idse ( Drugs ) 718 Higuera ,. Street to J.Fl.Sullivan was granted on motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by John Chapek. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the application of J.W.Sullivan for permit to hang an Electric Sign at 718 Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. The reports of the City Collector said Police Judge for the month of July were received and ordered on file on motion.of C.L.Carpenter seconded by John Chapek. Certain uncollected licenses ,.as per report of the City Collector on file, were referred back to the City Collector.for further effort to-collect. Claims against the City for the month of July were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective departments, on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek. This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of a portion of IrIill Street, Santa Rosa Street, Peach Street and Toro street, as set forth in Resolution of Intention Ito. 199 ( 14ew Series ) the following is a list of all bids received, which were publicly opened and read: Granite Construction -C-a:. 6" concrete pavement including grading .......... @ 24 4/10 cents per sq.ft. Concrete Curbs .. ............................see @ 62 cents per Concrete sidewalks .............................. a 21 cents per sq.ft. Combination concrete curb and gutter ............ O 95 cents per lin. ft. Bidders bond in the amount of $ 3,500.00 accompanied the bid. E.A.Branch, San Luis Obispo: Hydraulic Portland cement concrete pavement, six inched in thickness including grading, per sq.ft. ....... $ 0.246 Hydraulic Portland cement concrete sidewalks per sq ft ........0000. 0.21 Hydraulic Portland cement concrete curbs per lin ft 0.60 Hydraulic Portland cement concrete combination curb and gutter, per lineal foot .... ............................... 0195 Bidders bond in the amount of 6 3,000.00 accompanied the bid. Southwest Paving Co, Los Angeless Hydraulic Portland cement concrete pavement, six inches in thickness including grading, per sq.ft ................ .231- Hydraulic Portland cement concrete sidewalks, per sq•ft 0......0.00. .21 Hydraulic Portland cement concrete curbs per lin ft ................ 160 Hydraulic Portland cement concrete combination curb and gutter, per lineal foot ............. ............................... 1.10 Bidders Bond in the amount of $ 3,000.00 accompanied the bid. Discussion On motion of John Chapek seconded by H.E.Cox the bids were taken under advisement for one week, and referred to the City ngineer for extensions and report. It was moved by C.I:I.Carpenter -and seconded by John Chapek that the resignation of PI.J.Duddleson as Chief of Police of the City of San Luis Obispo be accepted; same to take effect not later than August 31st . I4otion carried. u 1 1 1 1 .'applications of Dr P.A.Iiullikin of San Luis Obispo, I V. Thorpe of Hawthorne, California,and G. +7.Anderson of Ivdorro Bay for appointment to the office of Chief of Police of the City of San Luis Obispo were received and read. On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the applications were ordered on file and the matter referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report. It was the sense of the Council that applicants for the position of Chief of Police, file - written applications with the City Clerk, same to be presented by said Clerk, to the Council. - The application-of Mrs. Ida Castator far license for Restaurant at 895 Higuera Street was granted on favorable report and motion of C.11.0arpenter seconded by H.E.Cox. Applications of J.E.Price for license for Pool Table and Soft Drinks at 1819 Osos Street were laid over for one reek. S.V,Wright, representing directors of the Exposition Park again addressed the Council relative to the proposed sale of the Exposition Park property to the City of San Luis Obispo for Park purposes. Platter discussed. It was moved by C.H.Carpenter and seconded by H.B.Cox that the matter be continued - to be taken up for consideration by the Council with view of calling a Bond Election for that purpose, at such time as some other project for Bond issue will be considered. Motion carried. J.J.Andre spoke relative to certain repairs to creek :gall on Dana Street, Discussion . On motion of John Chapek seconded by C.E.Carpenter the matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Warks for report to the Council, On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the meeting adjourned to Monday, August 9th at 7 :30 P.P.19 Ayes : C.1,1.
