On favorable report and motion of C.M.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the
petition of Hertz Drivurself Station, by F.I:1,Watson, for permit to hang two galvanized iron
signs ( 24` x 3") at 1005 Monterey Street, Berkemeyer Garage , was granted.
The petition of Joseph Leary for a Street light at Garden and High Streets was
ordered placed on file on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
On-favorable report and motion of 6.M.Carpenter seconded by H.E.Cox the foll
ing petitions for transfer of licenses were granted:

City Council met in regular session - 1,..ayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : C.M.Carpenter,_John Chapek, H.E.Cox , Chas Forbes, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent : None.
The minutes of October 18th and 25th were read and approved as read on motion of
Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox.
The application of R.Bassi for permit to erect a building for storage purposes
in Block 30, at a cost of $ 200.00 was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
The application of J.H.Logan for permit to remove a house from Lot 1 Block 116
Reeds Addition to Lot 4 Block 50 and repair-same-:at a cost of $ 500.00 was referred to the
Commissioner of Public 'dorks'for'investigation and report on motion of John Chapek seconded
by C.M.Carpenter .
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the following applications for.permi
to lay sidewalk and curbing were granted
W.W.Mathews - 400 ft 5 ft park sidewalk and curbing on the west side Higuera St Block
Lovina Monroe - 94 ft 5.ft park sidewalk and curbing on the west side of Higuera Street
Lot 1 Block 147 Harford Addition,
Geo. 1doerman - 75 ft 5 ft park sidewalk-and curbing on the East side Higuera Street,

Applications of J.H.Cochran for licenses for Cigar::Store and Soft ...Drinks at
1020 Railroad Avenue were referred to.the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for.
investigation and report on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek the following applications. for
permit to connect with the City Sewer were granted
R.B.Pruess - Grove Street between Monterey and Higuera Street.
G.W.Skiles - Carmel Street between 'nigh Street and Islay Street.
Petition of J.D.Gilliland for transfer of license for Hotel Andrews to A.J.Barn s
was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on motion of H.E.0 x
seconded by John Chapek.
The report of the City Collector for the month of October was received and
ordered filed on motion of Chas Forbes seconded. by H.E.Cox•
The report of Police Judge A.H.Brazil for the period October 25th to and includ-
ing October 31st., also, the report of the Found Master for the month of October, were
received and ordered filed on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox.
Petition of J.L.Anderson at al, for the improvement of Dana Street by the laying
of curbs and sidewalks and for the paving of said Street from curb to curb, was received.
Discussion . It was moved by C.I1.Carpenter and seconded by H.E.Cox that the petition be
received and placed on file.
Chas Forbes moved to amend the motion by the provision that the City Engineer check
frontage on Dana Street. The amendment was sec -:nded by H.E.Cox and carried. The
original motion as amended was then put and carried..
On motion of CoEI.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the following licenses were
ordered cancelled,the same having been reported by the City Collector as " out of business ".
Licenses reported under the Caption " Unable to Collect " were referred back to
the City Collector for further effort.to collect.
Communication of John J,lynch, City Clerk of San Jose, California, received and
crdered placed on file on motion of C.Pw.Carpenter_ seconded by H.E.Cox.
Claims against the City for the month of October were ordered paid subject to
approval of the heads of the respective departments on motion of Chas Forbes.seconded byl
ohn Chapek.
The petition for the removal bf two.trees in Pacific Street between.Santa Rosa
treat and Sam Luis Obispo Creek was denied on motion of H.E.Cox.seconded by C.I& Carpenter.
The petition of J.B.King for permit to plant lawn on the sidewalk area, for a
istanoe of 150 feet on the west side Ruth Street between George and Upham Street was grant
motion of H.E.Cox, seconded by John Chapek.
On motion of C.Iui.Carpenter seconded by Chas Forbes the petition of E.E.Burriss
or transfer of license for Service Station at corner High and Higuera Streets to
C. Kimball and C.S.1destfall was granted.
Petition of C.:,1.Brown at al. , for a. Street light. at. the corner of Price and
High Streets was granted on favorable report and motion of H.E.Cox seconded by CoM,Carpentel
There was discussion relative to Street Improvement and on motion of C.M.Carpen
seconded-by H.E.Cox it was ordered that plans, specifications etc., for the improvement of
Palm and other Streets be made special order of business for the next meeting.
