City Hall, Monday, Islay 13th, 1929 - 7 :30 P. I:1.
City Council met in adjourned session - I:Iayor L. F. Sinsheimer presiding.
Present: Chas. Forbes, L. J. Defosset, H. E. Cox, L. F. Sinsheimer.
Absent: John
Chapek.
The
following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H. E. Cox
seconded by L.
J. Defosset:

The
application of Albert Nelson for permit to raze grand stand at Exposition Park
was granted on
motion of H. E. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset.
The
application of Albert Nelson for permit to remove a cabin 10 x 20 feet from a
part of lot 3
block 27 to the rear of lot 3 Goldtree Addition was granted on motion of H. E. Cox
seconded by T.
J. Def08set..
The
following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were granted on
motion of H. E. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset:

-.50 feet of 4 ft. park sidewalk and curbing on the West side of Chorro
Street between Center Street and Venable Street, and 10 ft. on the
north side of Center Street between Chorro Street avid iiorth Broad
Street.

= 56 feet of 5 ft, park sidewalk, curbing and gutter on the east side
of Chorro Street between Broad Street and High Street.

The
application of G. Fuller for permit to coiuzect V.jith the City sewer on I�'_itchell
Drive between
Tenbrook Street and Story Street was granted on motion of H. F. Cox seconded by
L. J. Defosset.
The applications of the Santa I: ?aria Gas Company for permit to break pavement on
Buchon and Osos Streets to lay an 8" gas main across the respective streets, also, to lay an
8'" gas main on Santa Barbara Avenue between South Street and I:Iorro Street, and on —Worro Street
between Santa Barbara-:Avenue and:.: Pismo_S trect,:. afndi •on °.Pismo.._Street:::betiveen Morro Street and the
Southern Pacific Railroad track, to improve service in the above described districts were re-
ferred to the City Engineer for investigation and report.
The application of Sear's = estaurant for license for Cigar Sideline at 976 Idonterey
Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council
on motion of H. B. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset. '
The petition of V.I. L. Nichols for transfer of license for the Nichols Service Station
at the corner of Higuera and Pacific Streets to D. 12. Elliott was granted on motion of
L. J. Defosset and seconded by H. Cox.
A petition was received from B. !7. Lawrence, et. al. to open Kentucky Street grade '
crossing at railroad track. On motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox the same was
referred to the City Engineer for chekcing and report to the Council.
The petition of R. D. Squire et. al. protesting the erection of a sign board at
Leff Street and Broad Street was received and ordered placed on file on motion of L. J. Defosset
seconded by H. Cox.
The petition of Mrs. Evelyn halter, representative: of the American 3rotherhood of Free
Reading for the Blind, Inc., for permit to put on a tag day in the City of San Luis Obispo for
the benefit of the worthy blind was received. Matter discussed and on motion of H-. E. Cox
seconded by L. J. Defosset was -referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for

Applications of Foster Kleiser Company for permit to erect advertising sign boards
in block 7, block 61 and blocs: 75 as set forth in the said petitions on file were referred to
the Commissioner of Public nealth and Safety for in"estigation and report to the Council on
motion of H. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset.
A communication from the Telegram - Tribune Company relative to advertising rates for
the City of San Luis Obispo was laid over for the next meeting.
The matter of meat inspection was discussed at length but no acticn taken.
The petition of the Central Supply Company for permit to install a 285 gallon under-
ground gasoline storage tank together with a 5 gallon pirmp on lot 7 block 187A ias granted on
motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by Charles Forbes with the provision that the installation
be made under the supervision of the City Engineer and in accordance with the rules and
regulations of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, and, with the further provision that tI
same be removed at the pleasure of the Council.
The matter of the improvement of Upper Idonterey Street by paving eras taken up.
Commissioner of Finance and revenue, Charles Forbes, reported as to the responsibility of
the Santa Luria Construction Company. I:Iatter discussed. On motion of Charles Forbes second-
ed by H. E. Cox it was ordered that the contract for the paving of Upper I.Ionterey Street in
accordance with Resolution of Intention No. 270 (idea Series), be awarded to the Santa I:Iaria
Construction Company at the price named on its Bid. The motion carried, Yayor L.F. Sinsheimer
voting negatively.
Resolution TIo. 279 (New Series) Of the City Council, of the City of San Luis
Obispo awarding the contract for the work described in Eesolution of Intention No. 270 (New
Ieries) was introduced and adopted on motion of Chas. Forbes seconded by H. E. Cox by the
following vote:
Ayes: Chas, Forbes, L. J. Defosset, r. Cox.
Noes: L. F. Sinsheimer.
Absent: John Chapek.
The matter of the improvement of Broad Street by the laying of sidewalk and curbing
and the extension of a certain culvert at Leff and !goad Streets was discussed and laid over
to the next meeting.
On motion of H. R. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset the meeting adjourned to Wednes-
day, May 15th, 1929 at 7:00 P. I1.
