City Hall, Monday, September 16th 1929 7 :38 P,M.
City Council met in regular session - Eayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present Chas Forbes, L.J.Defosset, H.E.Cox, John Chapek, L.F.Sinsheimer,
Absent None.
The minutes of September 3rd. were read and approved as read on motion of Chas Forbes
seconded by L.J.Defosset,
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H.E.Cox
seconded by L.J.Defosset:
Mrs Mamie Ietotz - Garage lots 6 & 7 Block 88 Llurray & Church Addn Cost 200000
AIrs. Mabel DeTroy, - Store Room pt lot 1 Block 59 Cost 50.00
Cynthia P. Faeh - Garage (3 Stall) Lot 2 Block 83 Cost 400.00
Dell Cox - To rebuild Garage lots 4 & 5 3lock 120 hi.& C Addn Cost 100.00
An application was received from R.F.Richardson for permit to construct a building on
lots 17 & 18 Block 22. Said building to be used as an Undertaking Parlor. Matter discussed.
On motion of L.J.Defos6et seconded by Chas Forbes the application was referred to the Com-
ssioner of Public ' +forks and the City Attorney for report.
On Lotion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the following applications for permit
to move buildings were granted:
To remove a house from a part of lot 6 Block 49 Reeds Addition to southerly 50 ft
of.Lot 1-Block 530
'.'William Gelber - To _raze. what remains of a house recently ,.partially destroyed by fire, from
lot 13 Block 115 Lturray and Church Addn.
The application of Geo Weir for permit to lay 50 ft of 6 ft park sidewalk on the soutk.
side of Islay Street between Broad Street and Ripomo Street was granted, on motion of H.E.Cox
seconded by Chas Forbes.
Applications of Geo. C. MacGregor for licenses for Soft Drinks and Cigars Sideline at
1027 ;;orro Street.. were referred, on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H.E.Cox, to the Com-
nissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council.
On motion of H.:,.Cox seconded by John Chapek the following applications for permit to
2onnect with the City Sewer were granted:
Agostino Soto - Branch Street between Story Street and Vlard Street.
II.Rudolph - Howard Street between Second Street and Third Street.
VI.i.Alderman - Johnson avenue between Liz:;ie Street and Upham Street.
The petition of D.L.Colclough, P-ianager, for permit to hang ab Electric sign at corner o
:Marsh Street and Chorro Street for the Bank of America, was referred to the Commissioner of
Public Health and Safety for report to the Council.
The petition of the Shell Oil Company fpr permit to tear up and replace sidewalk at the
said Company's Service Stations, corner I:Ionterey and -6anta Rosa Street , and at Higuera and
Ripomo Street, respectively, was granted , -on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek with
the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the City ngineer.
In a communication :;ra.J.Locke, Executive Secretary of the League of California
P:Iunicipalities,gave Official notice of the Thirty First Annual Convention of the League to be
held at Hotel Oakland,in the City of Oakland, October 7th to 11th. On motion of John Chapek
seconded by Chas Forbes the communication was ordered filed.
On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by L.J.Defosset the Official Bond of Harry A. Payton,
Was Chief of Police; was approved, with the understanding that the said Bond be made to con-
form to provisions of City Charter.

communication from Leigh H. Irvine relative to initiation and promotion of the
State Park movement was received and read. Discussion It was moved by L.J.Defosset
and seconded by.Chas Forbes and unanimously carried to the effect ; that the Council of the
City of San Luis Obispo hereby go on record as favoring the acquisition of Pismo Beach in its
entire length , together with all adjacent lakes, lands, dunes, etc.; that would make a
harmonious whole , by the State of California for Park.purposes,
A petition was received from property owners relative to the installatioh of a
Street Lighting System. On motion of H.E.Cox.seconded by L.J.Defosset the petition was
referred to the City E'ngineer for checking percentage of frontage represented by property
owners signed.
Onmotion of L.J.Defosset seconded by = .E-Cox the .application of i;irs. a,i.24.Simmons
for license for Lunch Counter, 7:-marsh Street, wL s granted.
In re matter of petition of John B.Berkemeyer et.al., for improvement of a certain
Street in_Venable Tract: Following a verbal report by the City Engineer it was moved by
H.E.Cox and seconded by Chas Forbes that the petition be referred to the said petitioners for
more detailed and definite data.
In re petition of Olive B. 161artin for permit to connect with Sewer on Osos Street
between Higuera Street and ::ionterey Street: City Engineer made verbal report.' On motion
Of f.E.Cox seconded by Chas Forbes the petition was granted with the provision that the
applicant obtain permission of property owner to corinect with Sevier service on-adjoining
property. Work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer,
Petition of Joseph Roza for permit to install a sidewalk pump and storage lank at
2145 Broad Street was again laid over.
Bids received for a change of Channel in San Luis Obispo Creek and the construction
of a wooden retaining wall were now taken up. X;fter discussion the matter was laid over to
iuesday,September 17th at 1 :45 o'clock P.M., that the Council have opportunity to view location
)f the proposed work.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset the meeting adjourned to Tuesday,
ieptember 17th 1929 at 1 :45 O'clock P.I1.
