The minutes of October 6th and 15th were read and approved as read on motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H. E. Cox. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by John Chapek the application of the Seaside Oil Company for permit to make addition.to Luiich Counter Building on a part of Lot 1 Block 87 ?;fission Vineyard Tract was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. The application of I:Irs. i:Iamie I,1otz for permit to construct a stone garden wall 50 feet on Garden Street and extending back along south property line for a distance of 74 feet was referred to the Conmiissioner of Public '17orks for investigation and report to the council on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes. The following applications for permit to connect with the city sewer were granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset Tars. J. E. Coy: the petition of L. "1. Lawrence f permit to take up three squares of sidewalk at 636 Higuera Street for purpose of repairing feed pipes for two gasoline sidewalk pumps installed within property line, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety with power to act. The petition of Geo. ';1. I:icCabe for permit to take up four squares of sidewalk at 1038 I:Ionterey Street, i:icCabe's Garage, for purpose of repairing sidewalk pump, was granted on motion of H. B. Cox seconded by John Chapek, with the propision that work be done under supervision of the City aigineer. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by H. E. Cox the application of the Valley Electric Company for permit to hang a horizontal double faced Neon sign for Berkemeyer Garage, I:Ionterey Street, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. The application of Frank Clink for permit to remove the cypress trees on premise: at 1144 Iarsh Street was granted on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox. On motion of L. J. Defosset secondec by John Chapek the matter of the communi- cati ©n of ll. 'kY. I:Iathews,350 Higuera Street, in re high power lines of the I:Iiclland Counties rublic Service Corporation was referred to the Commissioner of Public tiorks for investi- gation and report to the Council. In a communication C. y. iiaino requested permit to widen driveway in front of his garage at 874 Jonterey Street. hatter referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council. Petition was received from Albert Nelson et al requesting permit to extend the existing culvert which crosses Broad Street at its intersection with Leff Street, for a distance of 75 feet in an easterly direction. Iuatter discussed, and on motion of H. v. Cox seconded by Chas Forbes the petition was granted, work to be done under the supervision of the City engineer. On motion of Chas Forbes seconded by L. J. Defosset the II':erchandise.Bond of the Jewel Tea Company.,Inc. was ordered cancelled and the certified check in the amount of '-;200.00 Lacs ordered returned - the principal having fulfilled obligation under said Bond. Engineere ?iarren B. Burch presented Estimate No. 1 for the construction of Santa ?osa, French and Chorro Street Bridges, Irving L. Ryder Contractor, in the amount of ;19262.86. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by L. J. Defosset it was ordered that a warrant . be draran for the amount specified in Engineer's Estimate. The matter of the re- installation of the Light Sign at the north entrance to the City of San Luis Obispo was left to the Commissioner of Public l,`lorks. On motion of H. F. Cox seconded by Chas Forbes the petition of A. F. Iiallagh et al for the improvement'.-of Phillips Lane between Grove Street and Park Street was referred to.the City -!;Ygineer for checking and report to the Council. Mr. Collier appeared.and brought up the matter of the improvement of Murray Avenue between Santa Rosa Street and Hathway Avenue, a petition for which had been filed, liatter discussed and on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox the petition was referred to the City Engineer for checking and report to the Council. The application of Chamber of Commerce by Grace R. Arata, Secretary, for permit.t erect a sign at 1028 Chorro Street, Gras granted on motion of L. J. Cox the City F,32gineer was directed to furnish the Council with plans and specifications for the work petitioned for, also alternate plans and specifications together with an estimate of cost for various types of street improvements in connection with the said petition. The application of I,Irs. N. L. Tate for license for Lunch Counter at 1208 Peach Street was granted on motion of L. J. Defosset seconded by Chas Forbes. The application of P. Tda -zza for permit to remove a 2 room building from Lot 18 Block 15 Buena Vista Addition to Lot 13 Block 15 Buena Vista Addition and improve by additions thereto „also the application of the said petitioner for permit to connect said premises with sewer on Haskin Street between Rachel Street and Bushnell Street were granted on motion of H. L. Cox seconded by John Chapek. B.A.DeVelbis representing the Building Trades Council, appeared before the Council and requested that an Ordinance be passed requiring Contractors to employ local labor on City Contracts. He was advised that such was now required of Contractors on Iriunicipal work; that an Ordinance covering same was under consideration.
