Present J.B.Berkemeyer,John Chapek,H.B.Cox,L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent . L.J.Defosset. The.minutes of-August 17th, 24th and 29th and September 1st, 1931 were read and approved as read on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek. It was moved by John Chapek and seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer that L. W. Moore, City Engineer, be appointed ex- offico Building Inspector. The motion carried. On motion of H. E. Cox seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer and carried various applications for permit to build were referred to the Building Inspector; said Building Inspector to interview respective petitioners, obtain necessary data and have applications in correct form in accordance with the Building Code and present to the Council. The following applications for permit to lay sidewalk and curbing were granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer: E. E. Hansen : 5 foot park sidewalk and curbing on the west side of Chorro Street between Center Street and ivIountain View Street. i:I. E. 3rnold : Concrete Driveway over sidewalk area - Lot 5 Block 17 Anholm Addition, Henry Silacci : 50 feet 6 foot park sidewalk on the South side Islay .Street between Broad Street and Nipomo Street. The application of Mrs. Sam Thompson for permit to lay 50 feet of 3 foot .park sidewalk and curbing, Higuera Street east of Grove Street, Lot 3 Block 6 Central Addition was. granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer with the provision that sidewalk be not less than 5 foot in width. The following applications for permit to connect with sewer were granted on motion of H. E. Cox seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer Bonnick Petersen : Higuera Street between Grove Street and Goodchild property. _Rodney V.Johnson : Chorro Street between Monterey Street and Higuera Street. The application of A. McGrew for permit to connect with sewer on Islay Street between Osos Street and Morro Street was referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report to the Council, On motion of John Chapek seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer application of Midland Counties Public Service Corporation.No. 196 for permit to do certain work on George Street between - Santa Rosa Street and Essex Street as set out in application on file, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works with power to act. The applications of Wm. P. Inman, 1177 Marsh Street and of Mrs. Anna M. Shurragar, 743 Buchon Street, for licenses for Lunch Counter and Lodging House respectively, were referrei to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council. Petition of E. R. Lewis for transfer oflicense for Mdse (Groceries) at 699 Higuera Street to A.F.Boza was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek. The Merchandising Bond of A. J. I3cDonald, Surety, Sun Indemnity Company of New York, was presented and on motion of John Chapek seconded by H. E. Cox9 the surety was accepted and the Bond approved. Petition of Guy N. Baldwin for permit to install additional storage tanks at E1 Camino Service Station on Higuera Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health snd Safety for Zeport 'to ':the :Council. . Communication from League of California Municipalities giving notice of the Annual Convention of the League to be held at Hotel Del I:'_onte, Monterey, September 21st to 24th was ordered filed. ,
