City Hall, Monday, February 15th 1932 - 7.30 p, M.
City Council met in regular session - Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
present : J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H.E.Cox, L.J.Defosset, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent : None.
The minutes of February lst and 8th were read and approved as read on motion of
L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer..
The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of H.E.Cox
seconded by L.J.Defosset
Irene Melin Store - Part Lots 14 and 15, Block 7 Cost $4020.00
Ewell Cox - Addition of room, Lot 4 Block 120.Murray & Church Addition Cost 100.00
P. P. Adams - Addition of room, Part Lots 10 and 11, Block 178,Loomis Add, Cost 500.00
Application of John Wallis for permit to remodel small cabin on rear of Lot 15
Block 186 Ingleside Tract was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by John Chapek.
Application of H.J.Dubin for permit to remove a building from part of Lot 1 Block 31
to Lots 2 and 3 Nippon Tract was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset.
The application of Helen Sousa for license for Lunch Counter at 848 Higuera Street
was referred.to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council.
On motion duly seconded and carried the following applications for permit to hang
signs were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council&
The Valley Electric Co. - Neon Sign - Granada Sandwich Shop - 1122 Morro Street
Cline's Electric Shop - Neon Sign - Barker Bakery - 974 Monterey St.
Cline's Electric Shop - Neon Sign - Armand Motto Ros Taxi - 1038 Chorro Street
The application of Cline's, Electric Shop for permit to install an Ele,ctrolier in
front of 384 Marsh Street was granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer, with
the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the application of John 1Vallis for
permit to connect with Sewer on Santa Barbara Avenue between Upham Street and High Street was
granted.
Application of Irene IvIelin for permit to break pavement for the purpose of lowering
Sewer on Broad Street between Higuera Street and Marsh Street was referred to the Commissioner
of Public Works-for investigation and report to the Council.
The following applications of the 1,idland Counties Public Service Corporation ;
Nos. 197, 198 and 199 for permit to do Certain work, as set out in said applications on file,
were referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council.
On motion of H.E.Cox seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the report of the City Clerk for the
month of January 1932 was received and ordered filed.
Harry McDonald appeared before the Council relative to delinquent tax against Lots 7,
8 and 9 Block "F" Idaymont Addition, aggregate amount "75.65, and requested a compromise.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by H.E.Cox the matter was referred to the Commissioner of
Finance and Revenue for investigation and report to the Council.
Petition of J.H.Defosset in re extension of ;-later line from North Broad Street and
t. Pleasanton Drive in a westerly direction along Osos Road was received and referred to the
Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council.
Application of Standard Oil Company for permit to install onenew gasoline pump at
Service Station, Northwest Corner of Monterey and Santa Rosa Streets, as per sketch on file,
s granted on motion of L.J:Defosset seconded by H. E. Cox.
Application of the Standard Oil Company for permit to install dne..new 550 gallon
fj 0
gasoline storage tank at Service Station, Northwest corner of Higuera and Osos Streets, as
per plat on file, was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded. by John Chapek, with the
provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.
Application of the Standard oil Company for permit to install one new 1,000 gallon
gasoline storage tank at Service Station corner Higuera and South Streets, as per sketch on
file, was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek with the provision that
work be done under supervision of the City Engineer.
Application of the Associated Oil Company for permit to break about 50 square feet
of sidewalk at 1108 I.Ionterey Street for the purpose of installing one 550 gallon gasoline
storage tank was granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek - work to be
supervised by the City Engineer.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek the following applications of

Applications of Frank Chavis for licenses for Pool Table and Cigars Sideline at
162 Higuera Street, Pacific Hotel, were granted on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by
J.B.Berkemeyer.
Application of Mrs. W. H. Dills for permit to lay curbing on High Street, and the
petition of the Salvation :irmy for permit to operate Shelter for the unemployed at 868 Palm
Street were again continued.
Claim of the State Compensation Insurance Fund in the amount of $250.00, same being
for deposit premium on renewal of Policy with said State Fund, was ordered paid, on motion of
John Chapek Seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the following licenses, reporte
by the Chief of Police as "Out of Business ", were ordered cancelled :
