City Hall, Ivionday, hiay 15th 1933 - 7;30
City Council met in regular session — Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding.
Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, John Chapek, H. .Cox, L.J.Defosset, L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent : None.
The minutes of May 1st and 8th were read and approved as read on motion of
J.B.Berltemeyer seconded by F.B.Cox.
Application of W.J.Ch-3rters for permit to install an underground gasoline storage
tank of 7,500 gallon capacity at Golden :rule Service Station, r;Ionterey :6treet, granted on motic
of L.J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek, with the provision that work be done eider the
supervision of the "'ity Engineer and in accordance with rules and regulations of Board of
Fire underwriters.
On motion of L,J.Defosset seconded by John Chapek the',-application of Li.J.Hightower
for permit to suspend a sign under present Electric Sign at corner of Higuera and Chorro Stree
was denied.
Petition of Ia?rs. L. Lumpkins for permit to remove a tree in yard at 1429 Osos Street,
lot 4 Block 107 , granted on motion of H.E.Cox seconded by L.J.Defosset.
Application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permittto place a pole
on High Street near the junction of Walker Street was granted with the provision that said pol
be set in concrete to eliminate the necessity of an anchor — otherwise application:.to;.be =::d
Application of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for permit to replace poles on
Story Street near P.C.- ailway tracks again laid over.
'etition of T.F.Ileaver, et.al. relative to improvements on property located at 1416
Palm Street taken up. Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the City Attorney to
view premises.
I:ierchandising Bond of C.'.Cooper, Sureties O.H.Sears and C.J.Bailey, was received and

on motion of John Chapek seconded by L.J.Defosset, the Sureties were accepted and Bond-.approved.
The file having been cleared of unfinished matters Commissionera John Chapek and
H.B.Cox retired as Councilmen, and the new Council proceeded to organize with officers elect
seated at the Council Table. The new members having previously taken Oath of Office their
Official Bonds were presented. The Council approving the Bond of Liayor L.F.Sinsheimer, and
Mayor L.F.Sinsheimer approving the Bonds of the New Councilmen, 3.P.Howell and Joseph Leary.
The.roll of the new Council was then called.
Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary., L.F.Sinsheimer.
Absent : None.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by H.P.Howell, L.J.Defosset was placed in
nomination for Vice Prestident of the Council and upon roll call L.J.Defosset was unanimously
elected, and so declared, Vice President of the Council.
For Commissioner of Public Health and Safety , L.J.Defosset was nominated by
J.B.Berkemeyer, and upon roll call , L.J.Defosset was unanimously elected, and so declared,

For Commissioner of Finance and 3evenue, u.P.Howell was placed in nomination by ..
L.J.Defosset and upon ::oll Call, 3.P.Howell was unanimously elected, and so declared, com-

ForCommissioner of Supplies Joseph Leary was placed in nomination by R.P•Howell
and upon roll Call, Joseph Leary was unanimously elected, and so declared, Commissioner of
Supplies.
For Commissioner of Public Works, L.J.Defosset nominated Joseph B.Berkemeyer and
upon roll call, Joseph B.Berkemeyer wassunanimously elected, and so declared, Commissioner of
Public Works.
It was ordered that present City Officers, who hold office by appointment, contin
in office:untili their successors are elected and qualify.
G.W.TdcCabe appeared in re Automobile sales license. Discussion. On motion of
j.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the matter was referred to the Commissioner of Finance
Revenue for report to the Council.

In re cooperative work, Forest Service- Fire Protection : On motion of
.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer it was ordered that $ 100.00 be appropriated from the
ity Plater Fund, to be applied on salary of patrolman for San Luis Obispo Water Shed for the

The request of American Legion Atxiliary 7 66 for permit to sell Veteran made
oppies on the Streets of the City of San Luis Obispo from I.Iay 26th to May 30th 1933, was

City attorney directed to furnish the Council with a draft of an amendment to
ontractors Ordinance - No 166 ( New Series }, also a draft of an Ordinance relating to
skeries and Laundries.
On motion-of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by L.J.Defosset the meeting adjourned to
onday, May 22nd 1933, at 7 :30 P,M,
