City Hall, ljonday, October 16th 1933 - 7:30
City Council met in regular session - Vice President of the Council L.J.Defosset
presiding.
Present : J.3.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary.
Absent : dnayor L.F.Sinsheimer.
The minutes of October 2nd and 9th were read and approved as read, on motion of
J.B.Berkeraeyer seconded by R.P.owell.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by B.P.aowell the folloiAng applications for
permit to build were granted :
S.P.I.illing Co - Lumber Shed Lots 1 -2 and 12 Block 13 Buena Vista Addn Cost... $ 4,000.00
C. .& Ruby :.Stowe- Addition of Sun Room Lot 5 Loma Vista l.ddn Cost 150.00

Application of':Irs Lyda ','lelsh for permit to lay 76 feet of full width sidewalk on the
north side of Palm Street between Essex Street and Johnson Street, referred to the Department
of Public 71orks for report, on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary.
On motion duly seconded and carried the following applications for licenses were
referred to the Corsrissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the
Council:

On motion of B.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the following petitions were
referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report at the next meeting :
Soper and Son - permit to install 250 gallon Gasoline tank and sidewalk pthmp at 2040 Broad St;
Clifford H.Smith - change position of Barber Pole at 1110 Chorro Street;
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co - permit to hang raised letter sign at 887 Higuera Street;
Cline's Electric Shop - permit to hang vertical double faced Ideori sign at Anderson Hotel.
The Merchandising Bond of W.A.Freeman & Sons,'with J.!I.Johnston as Surety, wa.s appr
and the Surety accepted, on motion of R.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berke.ieyer.
Merchandising Bond of F.E.Proudfit, with J.Shaw as Surety, continued to the next
meeting for report by Commissioner of Finance.
Petition of Elizabeth Johe for permit to remove an Eucalyptus tree from premises at
221 Hathway ivenue referred to the Commissioner of Public 14orks for report.
Applications of Midland Counties Public Service Corporation j 214 for permit to
establish tie line between Santa Rosa Street and Broad Street, and, # 215 for permit to replace
two poles and set two additional poles to serve electricity to two residences in Serrano Tract,
were granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Howell.
Claim of R.C.Woods in the amount of $ 40.00 for refund of license fees paid for
Insurance Agent continued to the next meeting for further investigation by Commissioner of
Finance.
