City Council met in regular session - Liayor L.F.Sinsheimer presiding. l Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset, R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent : None. The minutes of June 18th and 25th were read and approved as read. The folloasd ng applications for permit to build were granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by '-?.P.Howell : L.C.Porter -.. Addn. to Store Room Lot 6 Blk 119 Reeds Addn Cost 50.00 Frank Fisher - Addn. to Residence Lot 13 Brizzolsra Addn Cost 150.00 A.S.011iver .- Addn. to Residence Pt lot 6 Blk 33 Cost 150000 Margaret !.a Ginnie - Repair residence damaged by Fire Block 35 Phillips Addn 500.00 :applications of Foster & Sleiser Company for permit to place sign'.boards at certain locations, as set out in applications on file, were referred to the Commissioner of Public health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. Application of Herrera Bros., by Manuel Y. Herrera, for license for Restaurant at 898 i4onterey Street, referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council. On motion of R.P.Howell seconded by Joseph Leary the petition of Mildred Beckley, by John E7. Smee, for permit to break sidewalk 2 z 6 ft at 1,511 Broad Street for purpose of repairing serer, was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works with power to act. Petition of Harry n.Haskins for permit to place a framed canvas sign flash with building at corner of !':_onterey and Chorro Streets ( Mission Garage Bldg ) granted on motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by ;I.P.Howell. On motion duly seconded and carried the petition of Dr. David Lelker for permit to cut down curbing of sidewalk for a distance of 20 feet for driveway, on east side of Essex Street between Marsh Street and Pacific Street, referred to the Commissioner of Public .`forks with power to act. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R.P. Howell, Russell N. Dyers was granted per..iit for Fireworks display on night of July 4th. at Senior High School grounds. On .notion of L.J.Defosset seconded by R- 2- Howell a letter from the Monday Club relative to " Pioneer Day " in connection with their Pageant of !;atione, was ordered placed on file. Clerk directed to address letter of congratulation to Ah Louis, elderly Pionee On motion duly seconded and carried the (Merchandising Bond of Economy Drug Co.. secured by a Certified Check in the amount of $ 200.00 was ordered cancelled and the Certified Check ordered returned. The reports of the City Collector and the Police Judge for the month of June, and those of the City Clerk and.the City Treasurer for the month of May, were received and ordered- placed' on file. Claims against the City for the month of June were ordered paid, on motion of IR-P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer, subject to the approval of the heads of the respective iepart-,ients and the ''Mayor. A representative of Electrical Products Company discussed informally with the Council the matter of a Neon City Sign. Cost of small sign to be submitted, also various models. On motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer applications for the regular quarterly licenses were granted, with the exception of the application of J.C. McPheeters Lunch Counter"at 1015 Morro Street, which said-application was ordered held over to the ext meeting of the Council 21
