City Council met in regular session - 'riayor L.F. Sinsheimer presiding.
Present J. B. Berk:eueyer, L. J. Defosset, R. P. Howell, Joseph Leary, L.P. Sinsheimer,
Absent : :Tone.
The minutes of February 18th and 25th were read and approved as read on
raotion of ?. P. Howell, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer.
On motion duly seconded and carried the foliowing application for permit
to. build was granted;
I,tabel and Adrian De Troy - To enlarge porch pt lot 1 Block 59 Cost $75.00
The merchandising Bond of E. H. Coley with L. H. Monett and George i3.
Leonard as surety was referred to the Commissioner of Finance for report to the
Council on motion of L. J. Defosset, seconded by Joseph Leary.
Petition of E. Hightower for transfer of license for merchandise
(confectionary, lunch, etc.,) at 79E) Higuera Street to G. Vi. O'Rourke granted on
motion duly seconded and carried.
The following applications for permit to hang signs were referred to the
Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council:
Cline's Electric Shop - Neon Sign - ::fission Hotel - 865 °.Ionterpy Street.
Valley Electric Company - reinstall Neon Tubing; also, reinstall Chevron Sign at
Service Station, Block 24, corner tIonterey and Santa i:osa Streets.
Seaside Oil Company - To erect pole and hang wooden sign at Golden :-iule Service
Station, Lionterey Street and biurray "venue.
Application of I,Irs. 011ie Stanton fog- permit to connect with City Sewer
on Funston Street, in Rorton Additi-)n, granted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded
by Joseph Leary, with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the
City 3ngineer.
Petition of the Santa I:Iaria Gas Company for permit to break pave:aent,
for purpose of repairing gas main, at 2247 Broad Street, near Alphonso Street,
referred to the Commissioner of Public Works with pourer to act, on motion of R.P. Howell
seconded by Joseph Leary.
Applications of Midland Counties Public Service Corporation ;225 and
;,226 for certain proposed work upon Phillips Lane between Grove Street and Park Street,
and upon Chorro Street between I,Iarsh Street and Buchon Street respectively, were
referred to the Coriiissioner of Public 'forks for investigation and report to the Council.
The reports of the City Treasurer for the -.ioiith of January, 1935, and
those of the City Collector and the Poli:;e Judge for the month of February, 1935, were
received and ordered placed on file, on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by J. B.
Berkemeyer.
Claims against the City for the month of February, 1935, were ordered
paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective depart_zents and the Islayor,
on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by J. B. Berkemeyer.
Claim of George Smith in the amount of $7.75 for alleged broken clutch
on automobile w6s referred to the Commissioner of Finance for investigation and report,
on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by Joseph Leary.
Captain Frank Braine, of the local Salvation army Corps.., appeared and
requested the Council to contribute the amount of $50.00 per month to be used for
defraying expense of maintainence of Salvation Army kitchen for the feeding of
transients. !:tatter discussed and referred to the City Attorney for opinion.
On motion of L. J. -Defosset, seconded by R. P. Howell, the application of
J. H. Cole for license for lunch counter on Higuers Strut near Broad Street was
