Present : J.B.Berkemeyer, L.J.Defosset. R.P.Howell, Joseph Leary, L.F.Sinsheimer. Absent None. The minutes of June 15th and 22nd were read and approved as read. The merchandising Bonds of Frank F. Palmaymesa, with Sun Indemnity Company as Surety, and of R.D. Beckner ( Central Distributing Co ) with W.W.hlathews as Surety, were approved and the Surety accepted on motion of R.p.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer. Application of San Luis Obispo nigh School District for permit to construct a Gymnasium at Senior High School ;rounds at a cost of $ 48,800.00 was laid over until plans and specifications for the said structure are presented to the Council. On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.P.Fowell the following applications for licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council ; Joseph Berta - Soft Drinks, Cigars �'"ideline and estaurant at 860 idonterey Street. Joe V. Serpa - Cigars Sideline at 699 Higuera Street Tony Tomboc - Billiards and Pool and Cigars Sideline at 861 Palm Street �'l Camino ?iquor Store - Restaurant at 960 ',Ionterey Street Veteran's of Foreign l'i'ars - Boxing at ':'tinter Garden , June 16th, June 23rd and June 30th. The following transfers of licenses were granted on motion duly seconded and carried; rampton Ydse ( Csed ;'urniture) 712 !riarsh Street to O.L.Stout. P:.,.lJells - Filling Station 636 Higuera Street to C.W.Hawkins. On motion of.L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer the following applications for permit to hang signs were granted with-:the provision that said signs hang according to Ordinance and that work be done under the supervision of the City engineer ; Joseph Berta -Neon Sign at 860 ',lonterey Street. J.A.I'deisher. - Two wooden signs flush with building at City pharmacy. City Engineer Kenneth Beck reported on Street Lighting System recently installed by ,,idland i;ounties Public Service Corporation, advising that 186 Street Lights had been installed. This number including the 10 Street'-lights installed on Osos Street between Pacific Street and Rachel Streets. Engineer Beck further reported that lights on Beebee Street had been hung very low, but that he had been advised by the lighting Company that hi her poles would be installed as soon as possible and lights raised. Joseph Leary was ielegated by the I--ayor to see that change is wade. 12 Petition of David L. Cantway for permit to conduct a " Bingo or Tango game in the City of San Luis u'bispo was presented It was -,loved, seconded and carried that the petition be received; and that the applicant be permitted to address the Council. After discussion the application was referred to the Commissioner of Public health and Safety for investigation and report. After further discussion the Commissioner reporte unfavorably on the application and on his motion seconded by J.3.3erkemeyer the application was denied. 'The reports of the City Clerk and the: -City Treasurer for the month of ldlay, and the report of the City Collector for the month of June, were received and ordered placed file. Application of Pedro Morales for permit to connect with sewer on Osos Street between Olive Street and Sterner Creek referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. Application of 1:1.F-Andre for permit to cut pavement on Broad Str--et between Higuera Street and Marsh Street for purpose of opening clogged sewer for San Luis hotel referred to the City Engineer with power to act. Application of Zills G. O'Donnell for permit to connect with sewer on :rurray avenue between Toro Street and Stenner Street referred is the Commissioner of public '.works for investigation and report. Application of :Iidland Counties Public Service Corporation a 234 for permit to do certain work on High Street between Walker Street and Pismo Street, referred to the Commissioner of Public ' -dorks for report,on motion of n.P.Howell seconded by L•J.Defosset. Fetition of J.J.ILieldazis for permit to install underground storage for an amount not to exceed 150 gallons of gasoline on Lot 5 Block 16 Anholm Addition , referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. On motion of J.3.Berkemeyer seconded by F.P.Howell the petition of E.E.Barriss ..: for permit to install a loading Pump at Burriss Service Station, cor idarsh and Garden Streets, in accordance with specifications submitted, referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report-to the Council. Claims against the City for the month of June were ordered paid, on motion of :.P.Howell seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer, subject to the approval of the heads of rxhe_,:-_ respective departments and the ?Mayor. :attorney Andrew ?enetzky appeared before the Council re claim of Fits Anziani for alleged injuries and damage in a certain accident ';Iarsh and Ida Streets. Matter discussed. It was moved by ",E.7.Howell that the claim be denied. No second. !Notion declared lost. Further discussion. Joseph Leary for report to the Council. ::fatter referred to Commissioners F.F.Eowell Applications for the regular quarterly licenses were granted on motion of L.J..Oefosset seconded bd; .P.Howell. Application of the Valley Electric Co for permit to hang a Neon sign at 851 Higuera Street granted on motion of L.J.Def osset seconded by J.3.berkemeyer with the provision that said sign hang according to the provisions of Ordinance and that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Petition of american Brotherhood for the Blind for permit to hold a " Flower Salb" on Saturday June 20th or 27th , was denied , on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.111.Berkemeyer. On motion duly seconded and carried the following applications for licenses ere granted : ?efugio Lopez - Lunch Counter 866 Palm Street =emigio Gaoiran - Soft Drinks 887 Palm Street Veterans of Foreign Wars - Boxing June 2nd and 9th at Winter Garden. 1 1 1 1 L
