The reports. of the City Clerk and the City Treasurer for the ,: ionth ending
December 31, 1936, and the report of the City Collector for the month ending January 31,
1937, were received and ordered placed on file.
The following applications of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for
permit to do certain work were referred to the Co,:Llissioner of public ;dorks for investigat
ion and report to the Council :
Pacific Telephone & i'elegraph Co - I.:- Certain 1--ork on Church Street at foot of Santa =:osa St.
2 - ;replacing boles and extending facilities at various
locations.
3 - replace poles - . '.arsh Street at San yuis Furniture
Company, and on ;ranch Street near °story Street.
Petition of Coyner and Tanis for permit to install two underground gasoline
storage tanks of 560 gallon capacit,7 each, and two pumps at Berkemeyer Garage, 1005 _.;onter1
Street, referred to the Commissioner of public Health and Safety for investigation and rep
On motion of J.B.Berkeuieyer seconded by ;.p.-Howell the application of J.17.Louk
for permit to install a Septic Tank on Lots 14 and 15 Block 7 Southside addition, was
;ranted with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City noineer.
Re: petition ':'i.L.=:amage for permit to make temporary repairs to Creeir ',;gall at
1145 marsh Street: ];latter discussed, and it w.�s .moved by J.B.Berr_emeyer, seconded by
i.P.Howell and carried, that perrait for temporary work be granted, provided, that said
temporary :cork meets the approval of the City Bngineer.
Application of O.R.Ochs.,for registration as Class '} D 11 Contractor, together
ith Surety Bond in the amount of ; 1000.00 and registration fee of it 25.00 was received,
nd on motion of R.P.-Howell seconded by L.J.Defosset the Bond was approved and the
application 1ranted
On motion duly seconded and carried the City Clerk was authorized and directed
o draw warrant in the amount of 250.00 said amount being deposit preinium on renewal
f Policy with the State Compensation L'lsurance Fund covaring City Employees - for period
ebruary 7th 1937 to February 7th 1938.
On motion of =.P- Hovvell seconded by L.J.Defosset claims against the City for
onth of January were ordered paid subject to the approval of the heads of the respective
epartments and the i:iayor.
Communication from 'pacific Coast Fisheries Institute ordered placed on file.
Application of r_.C.Evans and Edward J. _eed for license for Skating '.ink at
inter Garden granted on favorable report and motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by ?.P.Howell.I
A.p:olication of I.Somera for license for Cigar Store at 868 palm Street was
denied on motion of L.J.Defosset seconded by J.B.Berkemeyer.
Application of ;:_rs Zealand Sicnons for permit to connect sewer for Lunch Stand all
rsh and Ida Streets to private sewer at 1443 IJarsh Street granted.
On motion of J._',.Berkemeyer Seconded by i.P.Howell the pacific Telephone and
lagraph Company was granted temporary permit subject to revision by the Council at any
to do certain work on Story Street between Sbuth street and Funston Avenue - as more
articularly set out in application dated and filed January 6th 1937.
Application of '.V.C. Culbertson for permit to do certain remodeling at San Luis
Hotel in 3locr. 7 continued.
On motion of J.B.Berkemeyer seconded by R.p.Howell the following license 1:7as

Report City Attorney re: claims for Tax,_ebate - Irene J. Carpenter and
D.H.and Flora Foree, read. Latter discussed, and it Naas moved by L•J.Defosset, seconded
TT .F. owell and carried that the report acid recommendation of the City Attorney be adopted,
in accordance with report the City Attorney be directed to defend any suit that may be
