Warren McClure - Residence & Garage, Phillips & Beebee Addn. Cost 12800.00 E. H. White - Addn to building, lot 5, Isabel Tract Cost 200.00 A. 111. Tripp - Garage,. lot 1, Blk 9 - Cost 150.00 Teresa Breschini - Garage, part lot 1, block 69 Cost 80.00 Application of Irene J. Carpenter for permit to replace 30 feet of full width.sidewalk on west side of Morro Street between Islay Street and Leff Street granted. Application of David E. Parks for permit to lay 12 feet of full width sidewalk on west side of Morro Street between Islay and Leff Streets referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report. The following petitions for transfer of licenses were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council: Chas. Massena to G. E. May - Licenses for Billiards & Pool, Cigars Sideline & Soft Drinks- at 1817 Osos Street Ambrose Barker -(Mode O'Day Shop) to Alice Ellwanger - License for Mdse (Dry Goods) at 720 Higuera Street On motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell, the application of Eric :11ickenden for permit to replace a Neon Sign at 1032 Chorro Street, Wickenden Building, referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report, as was also, the application of Dr. H. C. Graham for permit to hang a sheet metal sign with wood frame at 740 Pacific Street. Petition of Joseph T. Silva for permit to remove a tree from sidewalk area at 680 Leff Street referred to the Commissioner of Public Works for report. Application No. 250, San Joaquin Power Division of Pacific Gas and Electric t Company, by Chas. J. Kelly, for permit to do certain pole work on Fletcher Street dg c� 291 between Santa Barbara Ave. and Emily Street, more particularly described.in application on file, was referred, on - motion of R. P. Rowell, seconded by Joseph Leary to the Com- missioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council. Report of the Police Judge for the month of December 1938 received and ordered placed on file. Communication from Kenneth Beck, City Engineer, re: fire retardent qualities of Bric Siding ordered placed on file. Communication from Zion Ladies Aid Society re: water softener ordered Dlaced on file for future reference. k Communication from Salvation Army expressing thanks for contribution ordered placed on file. Applications of Grace Tabernacle, by A. 0. Johnson, for permit to lay 110 a. feet of full width-sidewalk on the east side of Osos Street between Pacific and Pismo Streets granted, on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by Joseph Leary. The following applications for sidewalk and curbing were granted, on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer, seconded by Joseph Leary, with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. J. P. Silva - 41 ft, full width sidewalk and curbing on the north side Monterey Street-between Chorro and Morro Streets. Routzahn Garage - To repair sidewalk in driveway at Routzahn Garage. Application of Rundle's Inc. for permit to hang a Neon Sign at "Sno -White Creamery ", 888 Monterey Street, laid over for report from City Attorney. Application of Wickenden & Wickenden for permit-to replace a Neon Sign at 837 Monterey Street granted on motion of J. B. Berkemeyer,-seconded by R. -P. Howell, work to be done in accordance with provisions of Ordinance and under the supervision of the City Engineer. Application of-Mrs. Emily Ramage, for license for Mdse( Confectionery, Lunch.', Soft Drinks, etc.) at 835 Branch Street-granted. Application of M. S..Fspinola for license for Restaurant at 846 Palm Street laid over for further investigation. Petition of H. J. Bello for permit to install light standards at new garage on'Broad Street, in accordance with application on file, was denied, on motion of J.B. Berkemeyer, seconded by R. P. Howell. Unfinished matters continued. It was moved by R. P,. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary and carried that the matter of the installation of compressed air tanks and other equipment for the new Diaphone Horn Fire Alarm System be referred to the Acting Fire Chief and the City Engineer.
