Present: W.H.Brazil,R.P.Hcwe11, Ralph C.Kennedy,Fred C.Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H.•Brazil: Chas. & Amelia.Munding•- Res. Lot 3 Blk 43, Cost $1800.00 Peter E. Sarmento - Garage, Pt lot 4, Blk 799 " 130.00 Elizabeth Popeney - Concrete foundation and porch, Lot 3, Blk 97,.Mission Vineyard Tract, " 275.00 C.E. Hackett & G. H. Shadineer - Addn to cabin, lot 1, Blk 1539 Harford Addn, " 45.00 The report of the City Treasurer for the month of August, 1939.received and ordered placed on file on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. This being the time fixed by the Council for receiving bids for the improve- went of Islay Street and a portion of Toro Street under Resolution of Intention No. 464 (New Series) and in accordance with published notice inviting sealed proposals for said work dated September 1st, 1939, the following is a list of all bids received which were publicly opened and read: John Fesler - Santa Maria, Calif. Total amount as per bid on file- - - - - - - $79980.85 Certified check in the amount of $800.00 accompanied bid. The City Engineer checked the items on bid. Resolution No. 465 (New Series) of the City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo . awarding the contract for.the work described in Resolution of Intention No. 453 Islay St Improvement' (New Ser- US-1•/ of said City Council awarding the contract for doing said work and im- provement to• John Fesler at the prices named in his bid was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil,R.P. Howells Ralph C. Kennedy, Fred C. Kimball, Joseph Leary 1. Noes: None Absent: None This being the time fixed by the City Council for receiving bids for improve- went of Morro Street in accordance with Resolution of Intention No. 463 (New Series) and in accordance with published notice inviting sealed proposals for said work dated September 1st, 1939, the following is a list of all bids received which were publicly opened and read: John Fesler - Santa Maria, Calif. Total amount as per bid on file - - - - - - - $39887.20 Certified check in the amount of $400.00 accompaniedbid. The City Engineer checked the items on the bid. Resolution No. 466 (New Series) of the City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo awarding the contract for the work described in Resolution of Intention No. 458 Morro 3t Improvement (New Series) /of said City Council awarding the contract for doing said work to John Fesler, at the prices named in his bid was passed and adopted on motion of R. P.Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil,R.P.Howell, Ralph C.Kennedy, Fred C.Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None 89 On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by.1. H. Brazil, Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy ivas instructed to call for informal bids for Insurance on Motorized Equipment ( for public liability and property damage) and report back to the Council on Sept. 25, 1939. Motion carried. On motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, the Rodeo Committee was granted permit to use the streets of the city for.-:.a street parade on Saturday, Sept. 16th and on Sunday, Sept. 17th - said parade to be under the direction and supervision of the Police Department. Motion carried, and it was so ordered. The City Engineer presented tentative map of Tract No. 30 known as "Escuela Alta Subdivision" and it was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil that the map be approved. Motion carried. The City Engineer then presented plans and specifi- cations for the improvement of a portion.of Tract No. 30, Escuela Alta Subdivision, in the "City of San Luis Obispo. After discussion it was moved by R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H Brazil that the plans and specifications for the proposed improvement in Tract No. 30 as outlined, be accepted by the City Council and that any and all work done,meet with the approval of the City Engineer. Motion carried and it was so ordered. The matter of bids.for the improvement of Highway No. 101 (Higuera, Marsh and Santa Rosa Streets) thin ugh the City of San Luis Obispo submitted under date of September 11, 1939 and taken under advisement until September 15, 1939, awaiting ;..approval of the Highway Commission were now taken up. City Engineer reported that bid had been approved by California Highway Commission. It appearing that the bid of John Fesler of Santa Maria in the amount of $6,698.50 was the lowest and best bid of all bids received, it was moved by R. P. Howell., seconded by W. H. Brazil that the bid of said John Fesler be accepted and contract awarded to him at the price named in his bid. Motion carried and it was so ordered. It was moved by W. H Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell that the certified checks of the unsuccessful bidders for the improvement of Highway No. 101 through the City of San Luis Obispo be returned. Motion carried. On motion o66 seco f W. H.
