Kennedy, F.C.Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. 1`. Howell, seconded by iii. H. Brazil: D. N. Hodgson - Residence and Gar. part of Lots 20& 21, Phillips & Beebee Cost $3000.00 Angelina Coccia - Residence and Garage, Lot 11, La Vina Block 1750.00 R. L. &.Lillie B. Dennis - Addition to Bldg., Lot 14, Blk 124 M & C Addn. " 400.00 Jeanette Schmid - Addition screen porch, Ft of Lot 2, B1k 54, " 250.00 The report of the Cite Clerl: for the month ending January 31, 1940 received and ordered placed on file. The application of Mildred :laterman, by the Better Plumbing Co. for permit to break psvement on Dana Street, west of Nipomo Street, for the purpose of connecting new residence with sewer was referred to Commissioner of Public ','Forks, with pov;er to act.and report back to the Council. The application of W. E. alderman for permit to connect with sewer on San Luis Drive, between Cazadero Ave. and Andrews Street ( Escuela Alta Subdivision) was referred, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R. P. Howell to the Commissioner of Public Viorks, with power to act. The following applications for .permit to connect premises located outside of th, City of San Luis Obispo % ;ith main public sewer of the City of San Luis Obispo were re- ferred on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by W. H. Brazil to the Commissioner of Public ,Toros, with power to act and report back to the Council: George Matts - Kentucky Ave. between Murray and Stafford Streets R. 3?. Dickson - Crandall '.'lay, between Foothill Blvd. and rolytechnic School gro The petition of A. V. Muller et al requesting the Council to take the necessary steps for the installation of concrete curbing on both sid-3s of Chorro Street from Palm Street to Murray Ave. was received.,and on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by ,'J. H. Brazi said petition was referred to Commissioner of Public Works for investigation and report to the Council, as was also, the petition of Mrs. C. Bianchi et al relative to the crossing of San Luis Creek at the end of High Street over what is known as "Bianchi Lane" The matter of bids for the Disposal of Garbage under Ordinance No. 208 (New Series) submitted to the Council February 5, 1940 were now taken up; communication was received from F. D. Ward requesting that he be permitted to withdraw his bid for the reason that he had been unable to secure a garbage dump site. Matter was discussed. so 10 1 1 L 1 1 1 1 1 1 jn. Resolution No. 490 (New Series) - A Resolution awarding the contract for the disposal of garbage under Ordinance No. 208 (New Series) to the San Luis Garbage Company, a copartnership ( 0. Navoni, M. Oberti, J. Salvi, A. Rizzoli, Joe Piuma, Steve Cataneo) was introduced and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by I. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. uennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil it was ordered that the com- munication of E. D. '"Iard be received and placed on file; that he be permitted to withdraw his bid, and, that the certified check in the amount of $1000.00 accompanying said bid be returned to him. Motion carried. The application of E. D. Ward for permit to raze certain structures at the rear of the Old Masonic Hall Building, corner of Marsh and Chorro Streets was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Joseph Leary. The petition of Neon Sales & Service by E. M. Andrez, for permit to hang a neon sign for Sears Roebuck Co. at 879 Higuera Street was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy with the provision that the work be done under the super- vision of the City Engineer and in accordance with provisions of Ordinance. Petition of Loretta A. Mulholland for transfer of license for Restaurant at 1020 Iviorro Street to Paul Perrot was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The application of Edith R. Estes for license for Restaurant at 861 Palm Street was continued for one week. The application of the San Joaquin Power Division, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. No. 263 for permit to replace existing pole on Mill Street and Johnson Ave. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy. The petition of J. G. Jones et al relative to parsing of automobiles on Marsh Street between Broad and Nipomo Streets was again brought up. There was discussion of parking matters at various locations. Matter finally referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the City Attorney for a draft of amendment to the Parking Ordinance to be presented to the Council. Re: Petition of Mrs. R. N. Umbertis regarding installation of sewer main and a water main on Fairview Street southerly from.Buchon Street; Commissioner R. P. Howell reported verbally as to approximate cost, etc: missioner of Public Works to contact petitioner. Matter discussed and referred to the Com- Resolution No. 491 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the Execution of an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, relating to the furnishing of water to said corporation, was passed and adopted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: I.V.H. Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None Re: Notice of J. E. Barrett, County Tax Collector in connection` with the sale of five parcels of property deeded to the State of California for delinquent taxes, said sale to be held February 16, 1940: Council interposed - no objections. It was moved by Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil that the notices from J. E. Barrett be re ceived and placed on file. Motion carried. 3r
