Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil: B. Chatham - Residence and Garage, Part of Lot 2, Blk 589 Cost 3500.00 Christiana Lauritson - Addition of room, Lot 2, Blk 173, Dallidet Addn. 200.00 The application of Mrs. Joe Green for license for Lodging House at 1042 Palm Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health. and Safety for report to the Council. The application of Neon Sales & Service for permit to hang a horizontal double faced.neon sign at 664 Pacific Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report to the Council on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Application of W. E. Patchett, by Archie Cheda, for permit to connect'with sewer on Corralitos Ave. between Andrews Street and Cazadero Street was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works, with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil. Application of the San Joaquin Power Division, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. No. 266, for permit to do certain work on Monterey and Higuera Streets between Santa Rosa and Nipomo Streets, in connection with installation of street lights, more particularly set out 1h application on file, was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by.R. P. Howell, with the provision that the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Application of'.San Joaquin Power.Division,..,Pacific Gas and Electric Co..No. 267, for permit to do certain work at the corner of Santa Rosa and Marsh Streets and at the corner of Santa Rosa and Monterey Streets, in connection with the placing of three.. sodium vapor lights, more particularly described and set out in said application on file,.was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell, with the pro- vision that two steel poles be substituted in lieu of wooden poles - work to be done under the supervision of the.City Engineer. - Joseph-Leary voted "No ". The report of the.. City'Treasurer for the month.of February , 1940 was received and ordered _placed on file, on motion of Ralph C..Kennedy, seconded by W. H.,Brazil. The application of L. B:.Cook & Son f or.registration as Class. "D" Contractor together with U..S. Fidelity.and Guaranty Co. bond in the amount of $1000400'and regis- tration fee of-$25:00 was received and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the surety was accepted; bond approved and registration granted. H. N. Mainini,.1720 Broad Street petitioned the Council for permit to construct a concrete culvert 50 feet long in the rear of Lot 7, Block 94, Murray & Church Addn.. joining same to the culvert already in place'at Broad and Leff Streets: Matter was dis- cussed and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R. P. Howell the same was referred to the Commissioner of Public. Works, with power to act. M. R. Tonini et al petitioned the Council to improve North Broad.Street by constructing curbs under W. P..A. set -up. Matter discussed and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by R..P. Howell the petition was received and placed on file for future reference. N 1 1 1 1 1 h 1 1 1 Chris.Anhblm at al petitioned the Council to construct curbs and gutters on Mt. View Street between-Hill'3treet and Broad Street and on Hill Street easterly for a distance of'approximately 200 feet, requesting that thesaid.work be done under W. P. A. and City as sponsor. Matter discussed and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the petition was ordered placed on file for future reference. In a communication, I. 0: Compton requested that a "Stop Signal" be .placed on Mill Street and its-intersection with Grove Street. After discussion the matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and the Police Department for investigation and report at.the nest meeting of the.Council. E. D. Dunning -et al filed notice of intention'to circulate -a - petition for the 951 annexation to the-City of San Luis Obispo of Mt. Pleasanton Square Addition, Mt. Pleasanton Square No. 2 and a part of Section 27, more particula rly described inlaid petition. After discussion the matter was referred; on motion of W: H: :Brazil, seconded by R. P. Howell to the Commissioner of Public Works, the.CitynEngineer and the City Attorney for report at the next meeting -of'the Council. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil it was ordered that the Council renew membership in-the Channel Counties Regional League coveting period from April 1st, 1940 to April lst 1941. Clerk authorized to draw warrant in the amount of $7.50 to cover.. Motion carried.- Joseph Leary voted-"Now. Application-of-Neon Sales-and Service for permit-to hang a double faced.neon sign at :Dante's Place, 993 Higuera Street was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, -seconded by R. P. Howell with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer and in accordance with provisions of ordinance.° Application of Thornton C. Marshburn for license for Soft Drihkb at I.D.E.S. Hall,-.granted on motion of-W. H: Brazil,-seconded by R. P. Howell. Communication from Mrs. Wm. Erdman re: Radio.interference filed for,fnture reference. Ordinance No. 213 (New Series)-- An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 122 (New Series) by adding a new Section to be known-as-Section 3- 1 /2-relating to -Truck Routes was introduced and passed.to print on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil by the , follow ing vote: Ayes: W.H. Brazil,.R. P. Howell, Ralph C..Keanedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None Commissioner R. P. Howell reported favorable action on the application of Sandercock Transfer Co. for permit to build a shop on Lot 15, Block 95 and on his motion, seconded by,W. H. Brazil the application was granted, as was also the application of . Sandercock Transfer Co. for permit to move a warehouse from parts of Lots 1 and 2. Block 95 to Lot 2, Block 5, Weills Addition. The latter application being granted with the provision that the buildings set back in line with other buildings on adjoining property. Commissioner Howell also reported favorable on the following matters referred to him; with power to act; on March 18th: D. K. Lewetzow - Two residences, Lot 1, B1{ 1189 M & C. Addn. D. E. Parks­- Addition of room - Part of Lot 19 Blk 1149 M & C Addn. Sandercock.Transfer Co. - To raze buildings,.Blk 51, 52, and 95, M & C Addn. On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H.
