P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Joseph Leary Absent: Mayor F. C. Kimball The following applications for permit to build were granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy: Mary Hischier - Residence and Garage, Lot 9i Blk 5, Buena Vista Addn. Cost $ 3000.00 Fred H. Johnson - Garden House, Lot 18, Blk 110, Mission Vineyard Tract " 850.00 J. E. Barrett __7 Residence and Garage, Lots 6 & 79 Blk 4, Goldtree Vineyard " 2800.00 W. G. Stuntz - Addn. to Garage, Lot 129 Blk 4, Central Addn. " 35.00 Georre Dunham - To raze building on Lot 11, Blk 105, Mission Vineyard Tract and remove lumber The application of S. P. Milling Co. for permit to lay 455 ft of curbing and gutter on the East side of Santa Barbara Ave. between High Street and Fletcher Street was granted on motion of IN. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. In a communication, the combined Veteran's organizations of the Memorial Day committee, by I. Lester, Chairman, extended an invitation to the Couh cil to,join in the Memorial Day parade and services, May 30th. The communication was received. and ordered placed on file. Application of John Kirkeby by the Union Hardware & Plumbing Co. for permit to cut concrete pavement on Hathway Ave. between Santa Rosa and Toro Streets for the pur- pose of repairing sewer was granted on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kenne with the provision that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. Brazil the following appli- cations for permit to hang signs werereferred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report to the Council: Neon Sales & Service - Double Faced neon sign at 1033 Chorro St. for Forden's Hardware, Neon Sales & Service - for Double faced neon sign at 1255 Monterey St. for Thomas Motor Co. The petition of Ethel Tartaglia et al for the installation of curbs on North Broad Street under W. P. A. plan was received and on motion of W. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the petition was received and ordered placed on file for future reference On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W.. H. Brazil the Mayor and the City Clerk were empowered to sign a permit authorizing the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. to attach to the front of the City Hall Building an Eye -Bolt for the purpose of support- ing a street light span wire. A statement of Louis Bettega was read and referred to Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy and the City Attorney for adjustment. Cojuaissioner of Public Works, R. P. Howell reported favorable on the appli- cation of W. H. Goettsche for permit to break pavement on Islay Street between Garden and Broad Streets for the purpose of making sewer connection, and on motion of 'N. H.Brazi seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the application was granted. On favorable report and motion of 'N. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the petition of Glasser Bros. for permit to hang a_metal sign with wood frame flush again the building at 735 Marsh Street was granted with the provision that the sign hang in accordance with provision of ordinance and that work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. n 1 1 1 1 �J 1 1 1 J The application of'the Purity Stores, Ltd.- for permit to erect a "Stick Out " 4 69 sign above the sidewalk at the'corner of Broad and Marsh Streets was again brought up and on motion of W. H. Brazil seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the application was denied without prejudice to the petitioner.. Resolution No. 50A (New Series) - A Resolution accepting a deed from A. V. Cline and Edna Lee Cline conveying to the City of San Luis Obispo a portion of Lot 20 of Phillip & Beebee Tract ( more particularly described in said deed) for street purposes was passed and adopted on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy seconded by W. H. Brazil by the following vote: Ayes: W. H.Brazil, R. P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: F. C. Kimball All unfinished matters-continued.
