Kimball presiding. rresent: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F.C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Absent: None On motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil the following building permits were granted: 0. F. DeGottardi - Garage and washroom - Part of Lot 2,.Blk. 38 Cost 150.00 D. R. Simpson - Addn. to present garage, Lot 6, Blk. 8, Weills Addn. " 40.00 Southern Pacific Co.- Depot - S.P.R.R. r/w at Santa Rosa St. " 35,000.00 The petition of Cline's Electric Shop for permit to hang neon sign for Brown and Doyle at 1026 Morro St..was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by R.F. Howell. The application of George G. Ross for sidewalk and curbing on the east side of Hathway Ave. between Third and Second Streets was granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.: The Merchandising Bond of Louis and Augusta Blomquist in the amount of . 4200.00 with 0. A. Nilsson and Mark Evans as surety, was received, and on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. h. Brazil, the surety was accepted, bonf approved and license ordered issued. The report submitted to Mayor F. C. Kimball by J.M. MacLean, Accountant, showing. the Reconciliation of Treasurer's and Clerk's balances as of June 19 1942, r;as ordered received and filed as was also the reports of the. City Treasurer for the months of April and May., 1942 ( as prepared by J. M..MacLean, Accountant), Police Judge's report for the month of May, 1942, and the City Clerk's report for the month of May, 1942. Communication received from John E..Martin under date of June 1, 1942 asking for a leave of absence during his Army service, and on motion of W.H.Brazil, seconded by R.P.Howell, it was ordered that he be granted leave of absence for the duration of the war. Motion carried. Communication from Aaron Rabener asking the Council for an exemption on the l'erchandising, B ^nd upon entering into business after the war, received. Same was ordered received and filed on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by W. H. .Brazil. Commumicat ions received from the State Board of Equalization, acknowledging receipt of Resolution No. 666 (New.Series) relative to opposing the issuance of any new licenses authorizing the sale of alcoholic beverages, was ordered received and filed on motion of R.P. Hov:ell, seconded by W. H. Brazil. Communication from The Fidelity and Casualty Co. of.New York under date of June 2, 1942 regarding the cancellation of the bond of J. C.. James was referred to the City Attorney, with instructions to present a Resolution at the next meeting of the Council Communication received from F. C. Stolte Co. under date of June 4, regarding the Sewage Disposal Plant, Docket No. Calif 4 -144, outlining the cause of delay in con- struction on the project. Same was ordered received and.filed on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by :9, L. Brazil. Application of Southern Counties Gas Co. for permit to break pavement on Higuera Street between Nipomo St. and french Road was granted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil; work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Re: Communication from the League of California Cities outlining the "Salvage for Victory" program, which was referred to Commissioner Joseph Leary at a previous meet- ing, was ordered received and filed; Mr. Leary suggested that the city cooperate with the committee in charge of this camraign. 7. 204 Ordinance No-. 242 0ew Series) - An Ordinance Amending Sections 6 7 of Ordinance No. 47 (New Series) entitled "An Ordinance of the City of San Luis Obispo requiring and providing for the removal from property, lands, or lots,.of weekls, rubbish and other material which may endanger or injure neighboring property or the health or welfare of residents of the vicinityi and providing for the establishment of liens for the cost of such removal and for the enforcement of such liens was finally passed on moti of R. P., Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P.Howell, Ralph �. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None ' Resolution No. 669 (New series) - A Resolutinn accepting the offer of F. C. Stolte Company to make certain changes and additions in connection with enlarge- ments and improvements to the Sewage Disposal Plant of the City of San Luis Obispo was passed and adopted on motion of R.P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil upon the followhg vote:- Ayes: W.H.Brazil, R.P. Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None Resolutiod No. 670 (New Series) - A Resolution Providing for the Execution of a Lease between the City of San Luis Obispo and the County of San Luis Obispo was passe and adopted upon motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by W. H. Brazil upon the following vote: Ayes: 'N.H.Brazil, R.t'.Hut.,ell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. 1�. Kimball, Joseph Leary Noes: None Absent: None On motion of IN. H. Brazil, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Kenneth Cantrell was appointed Pound Master at a salary of $140.00 per month; $50.00 to be paid out of the Administration Fund and $90.00 out of the rublic Health and Safety Fund as of June. 8, 1942. Commissioner R.P.Howell reported that the cost of repairing the camp grounds in Reservoir Canyon,.including the repairing of tables, barbecue pits and the building of three new tables will be about $100.00, and was authorized by the Council to proceed.with the work. He was also asked to get prices for the cost of hooking up the electric pump on the hospital grounds for the Goldtree extension line. It was suggested by Mayor Kimball that a specJl guard be employed.at the school crossing at Peach and Santa Rosa Streets on full time schedule, thereby. relieving members of the police force.
