The City Council met in regular session; R. P. Howell, Acting Mayor,

Present: R. P. Howell, Ralph C. I >ennedy, Joseph Leary, Clyde T. O'Nan
Absent: Mayor F. C. Kimball
The minutes of the Lnwetin.FS of March 6th mere read and approved as read.
On motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan the following
building permits were granted:
A. E. Brooking - Repairs to house; Lot 9 - Llk. 1052 Id. V. Tr. Cost 100.00
Maxine Van Schaic_•c - 'Washroom - Block 61 " 250.00
The application of the Southern Counties Gas Co. for permit to make
excavations for main and service renewals and repairs in various streets was Franted on
motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
The application for City License filed by filbert C. Hayes for Cleaning
and Pressing at 709 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph
C. Kennedy.
The 1:erchandising Bond of Guy Pyatt in the amount of $200 with the
United �3tates Fidelity and Guaranty Co. Lis surety, was received and on motion of Ralph
C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan the surety -:.as accepted, bond approved and license
ordered issued.
The petition filed by the Liission Mothers Club requesting the Council to
adopt a Curfew Ordinance raas referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety
for investigation and report.
The application for transfer of license of Herb. Snyder ( Taxi Service)
to John J. Langdon at new location, Fremont Garage, was referred to the Commissioner of
Public health and Safety on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
The application for transfer of license of the Wideawake Cafe, 1129
111= onterey St. from Leslie R. Hillis to Joseph Soroka •was granted on motion of Joseph
Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy.
Notification received from the State Board of Equalization for transfer of
" On Sale Beer" license from Leslie R. Hillis to Joseph C. �oroka dba Wideawake Cafe
at 1129 Puonterey Street; same iras ordered received and filed, on motion of Ralph C.
Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary.
The com: _nur_ic�ition received froTa the City Fire Dept. employees requesting a
raise in salary was referred to Commissioner of Public Health and Safety and Commissioner
of Public 'Works for investigation and report on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by
Clyde T. O'Nan.
The communication received from Dr. Filers, County Health Officer:;. asking
for additional parking space on Morro Street for the Health Department's cars was referred
to Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of
Ralph-C. Kennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
Communication from the International Association of Chiefs of Police re:
The City's membership, was held over until the next meeting, on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy;
seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan.
Communication received from Ryan Equipment Co. relative to Street Sweeper
was ordered received and filed.
The certified check's in the amount of $200 each posted by Jordano Bros.
and the :I,Dllywood Studios in lieu of I:_erchandising Bond for 6 months period were ordered
returned on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary.
The City C1eri:'s report for the month of February 1944 was ordered received
and filed on motion of Ralph C. Kennedy, seconded by Joseph Leary.
