The following building permits were granted on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan: James Custer - Garage and storeroom - Lot 112 Blk. 16, linholm Addn. C. E. Graves - Garage and ',Jashroom - Lot 183 Blk 16, First Baptist Church Inc. - Garage; Lot 18, BLk 14, " J. C. Cornwall - Remodel kitchen; Lot 8, Blk 2, Weills Addn. " Rada M. O'Nan the following permits were granted; wort; to be done under the supervision of the.City engineering department and to conform with walks in the neighborhood: t.. Kathke - 50 ft. walk and curbing on the South side of Pacific St. between Essex and Johnson Streets Application of Southern Counties Gas Co. for permit to install new services at 424 Higuera St. and on Fixlini St. between Lizzie and Agnes St. The following petitions were referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report: Petition of Bud Rose Sign Service for permit to hand: a sign at 993 Higuera St. for Whitey's Army and Navy Store Petition of Bud Pose Sign Service for permit to hang sign for Whitey's Drive -In at Yarsh and Osos St. Petition of Bud Rose Sign Service for permit to hang sign for Whitey's Drive -In at Larsh and Osos.Streets. . The petition filed by Clines Electric Shop for permit to hang Neon sign at 728 Higuera St. for Lacterman's was granted on motion of Joseph Leary,seconded by Clyde T. O'N'an; work to be done under the supervision of the city engineering department. The petition filed by Smee Plumbing Co. for permit to make an t�xcavatimn in street for repairs to sewer at 755 Alphonso St. was granted on motion of R. P. Howell, second,--d by Clyde T. O'Nan; work to be done under the supervision of the cit7 engineering Department. The petition of the Checker Cab Co. to transfer location of office from 1088 Higuera St. to 997 Higuera St. was granted on motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan. The Merchandising Bonds of Eula Eae Leidig.( Ildse. Groceries) at 447 Higuera St. and of B. C. Chernack & A. R. Rothstein ( Mdse. Army) and Navy Goods ) at 993 Higuera St. in the amount of $200 with the U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty Co. as surety, was received and on motion of Ralph C. iiennedy, seconded by Clyde T. O'Nan, the surety was accepted, bonds approved and licenses ordered issued. The communication from Mrs. E. L. Patchett, 626 Branch Street, relative to re- moving trees in parkway which is causing poor drainage in sewer line was referred to the Commissioner of Public 'Works, with power to act, on motion of Ralph C. Communication from California Poly School Re: City fire equipment was again This being the time set for receiving bids and for the auction of lease of the city property known as "City Sewer Farm" as per published notice dated November 10, 19441 such lease to be made to the Highest responsible bidder at the highest monthly rent, as outlined in lease agreement form on file in the office of the City Clerk,- the following is a list of sealed bids received which were publicly opened and read: Meissner Bros.- ,Rt. #1 Box 18, S. L. 00 Bid for 2 ?1500 per year Arley Gill & S. C. Schultz - San Luis Obispo - Bid for 1$135.50 per month or $1626 per yr Other verbal bids were received, however, the final floor bid of Ernest Dalidio was accepted in the amount of $1800 per year or $150 per month payable semi - annually in advance on the first day of each Hay and November during said term ( which is three years) and on motion of R. P. Howell, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy the biayor was authorized to enter into an Agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and Ernest Dalidio as outlined above upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: R.P.Howell, Ralph C. Kennedy, F. C. Kimball, Joseph Leary, Clyde T. O'Nan Noes: None Absent: None The City Attorney reported protest has been filed with the State Board of Equalization on an issue of license to Chas. Ashbaugh and of a transfer of same to Roy Powell and Rudy Marshall at 142 Higue ra St. for "On Sale Distilled Spirits" and "On Sale Beer and yline ". On motion of Joseph Leary, seconded by Ralph C. Kennedy, Ralph Ryan was appointed temporary fireman at a base pay of.P?175 per month as of November 7, 1944, Commissioner Ralph C. Kennedy reported work was progressing on the building of glass partition for radio in police department. Chief Epperly reported to the Council of the number of complaints received from merchants and citizens about th4 conduct of the shoe shine boys on the streets; after much discussion the matter was referred to the City Attorney for study and report.
