Howell The application of Mike Sime for a taxicab license dba Checker Cab Co. at 1015 Dionterey St. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for in- vestigation and report, on moti::n of G.71.Baker, seconded by F. L. Gist. Application of C. L. Williams for restaurant dba Polly Cafe at 412 Higuera at. was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report. Transfer of license for Corky's and Danny's for Ividse. ( Conf. Lunch Soft Drinks) at 1177 harsh St. to James D. Soto was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist. Transfer of license from George F. Ivloerman, dba Garden Dairy at 341 Higuera St. to Calvin L. Williams, Jr. and Thos. D.Collins, dba "Willcoll Stores" was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with power to act, on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by F.L.Gist. Notification from the State Board of Equalization for "On Sale Beer" license for Gilbert & Raymond A.Solario, dba Amapola Club at 861 Palm St. wan ordered received and filed. Communication from a taxpayer relative to condition of I4lontalban St. was ordered filed. Communication from E. C. Viride, dba B & R Taxi •service, infor:::ing the City Council of a change of headwuarters to the corner of t:'_onterey and Osos Sts. in front of the Horse Shoe Cafe and requested the Council to mark off for taxi zone .-n the osos St. side. The matter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for inves- tigation and report. Application from Frank bl-. Libs applying for a janitor job was ordered received and filed, as was also the application of John R. Southgate, applying for position as Police Officer. and filed. The City Treasurer's report for the month of November, 1946 was ordered receiv Communication from Luippold Engineering Sales Co.' re; Contract for liquid chlorine and ammonia was presented to the Council and on motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by G.1J.Baker, the Mayor was authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the city, for the 1947 requirements as outlined in the contract. Communication from the City Clerk, together with 364 certified petitions of protest against the Sales Tax Ordinance No. 276 (New Series) were submitted to the Council at this time and on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by Kline ,illiams, the dis- position of the matter was held over. The petition submitted by city employees, a total of about 65 signatures, addressed to the City Council requesting a 20% increase insalaries was ordered received and filed on motion of G.A- I.Baker, seconded by F. L.Gist. Application of Eugene Hill was taxicab was again held over. application failed by Guadalupe Cota for dance to be held on Dec. 31, 1946 was granted on motion of Kline V-1illiams, seconded by F.L.Gist. The applications for renewal of quarterly licenses were granted on motion of Kline ';Y'illiams, seconded by F.L.Gist. Gray Cab Co Mrs. Hal Hathway The communication from Harry Neville Jenks was held over. Communication from Dr. Ben Loveall requesting certain equipment be returned to the U.S.O. Bldg. was ordered received and filed. Ordinance No. 261 (New aeries) - An Ordinance establishing grades on Hathway Ave. between Toro St. and City Limits north of hurray St. and reducing width of sidewalk areas on Hathway Ave. was passed to print on motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by G. i,;. Baker up::n the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.1. Baker, F.L. Gist, Ralph C. i:ennedy, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: R. P. Howell This being the time set for receiving bids which was postponed from the last meeting for gasoline and oil requirements, the following bids were received and submitted to the Council: General Petroleum Corp. Seaside Gil Cori. The Texas Co. Ur_ion Oil Co. Tidewater Associated Oil Standard Cif Co. Richfield Oil Co. Shell Oil Co. and on motion of G.'; ^!.Bake r, seconded by F.L.Gist the Richfield Gil Co. was awarded the. bid for our gasoline requirements at 1210 on house brand gasoline and 14¢ for Ethyl; the General Petroleum Co. was awarded the bid on kerosene at 12 -3/40 per gal., stove oil at 910 and diesel oil at 8d per gal., and the prices submitted by the various - companies for Lubricating Oil and grease were referred to the Commissioner of Supplies with corner to act. On motion of Kline ?�1illiars, seconded by F.L.Gist, it was moved that Harry L. Truesdale be appointed as Police Judge as of January 1, 1947 for a six month period upon the following roll call vote: Ayes: G.W.Baker, F.L.Gist, Ralph C. Kennedy, Kline Williams Noes: None Absent: R.P. Howell On motion of F.L.Gist, seconded by G. YJ.
