Monday, May 3, 1947 - 7:30 P.M.
The City Council met in regular session; Mayor Timothy I: O'Reilly presiding.

Absent: Kline i•:rilliams
The minutes of April 19th7 1948 were approved.
Communication from J.J. Dunne, Re: Parl_ing space was referred to the Commissioner
of Public Health and Safety for investigation and report on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded
by R.P.Howell.
Communicatirm from 1.,rm. H. Benno, proprietor of the Sportsman's Store, 660 Higuera
Street, applying for transfer of business license to 869 Higuera St., ( Old City Hall
site) and asking permission to alter building was referred to the Commissioner of Public
',forks, on motion of G.i,:r.Baker, seconded by i'fm. 0. Hall.
Communication from Guido 0. Ferini, City Engineer, submitting Engineer's report
on inspection of the Old City Hall was ordered received and filed for further reference
on motion of G.W.Baker, seconded by 14m. 0. Hall.
Communication from Anaheim Chamber of Commerce Re: Planning Day Meeting was re-
ferred to the Planning Commission on motion of 'afm. 0. Hall, seconded by R.P.Howell.
Communication from Milton Broom reouesting permission to parade and sell tickets
for the Fiesta Queen contest every Saturday to date of Fiesta was referred to Commissioner
of Public Health and Safety, with Dower to act, on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by
R.P.Howell.
Communication from Ada Garland, 295 Santa Rosa St, asking the Council to reinstate
Officer Leonard Williams was referred to Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, with
poorer to act on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by idm. 0. Hall.
Communication from 0. R. Ochs and Son reouesting additional time on Sewer Extension
Plant contract was presented to the Council and on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W.
Raker, it was ordered they be granted a 30 working days extension as of May.1, 1948.
Communication from J.E. McClure, Secy, of the City Planning Commission together
with the Minutes of the Meeting of January 16, 1948, and on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded
by R.P.Howell, the Council approved paragraph 4 ( petition for rezoning both sides of
Broad Street from Marsh to Pismo Streets, to be rezoned for Local Business, and the City
Attorney instructed to notify the Commission of the Council's action.
Communication from League of California Cities showing Salary and !,,!age Survey
of California Cities, was referred to

Communication from S.L.O. Chamber of Commerce ( parking meter committee) re-
commending certain changes in the Parking Meter Ordinance together with full report of the
Committee survey was submitted to the Council and on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by
Wr.. 0. Hall, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary papers to provide
for the changes approved by the Council.
Petition filed by ':, ?m. D. Holdredge et al representing property owners on the 1600
Block Mill Street, reauesting variance of the Land Use Plan as adopted in the Planning
Ordinance was referred to the Planning Commission on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by
R. P. Howell.
Application of Sam C. Arledge, applying for position with the City was referred to
the City Engineer on motion of idm. 0. Hall, seconded by R.P.Howell.

Communication from the Taper Tube Pole Co. of San Francisco, submitting
prices on Meter Heads Exchange was referred to Commissioner of Supplies.
The following applications for transfer of licenses were grantee on motion of
R.P.Howell, seconded by G.W, Baker:
Transfer of Butler's Book Store to Helen Rutherford, Martha A.Hix, and Alma L.Abell,
dba "The Gabby Book Store"
Transfer of Shiell Station at 1200 Monterey St. to Jos Adamski and Merritt Garrigus.
Transfer of Bonner - Posson Refrig. Sales at 750 Mill St. to Clifford M. Bonner and Royal
E.Grant, dba "Bonner & Grant Refrigeration"
Transfer of Hamburger Haven to Ellen Metters

Claims against the City for the month of April were ordered paid, subject to the
heads of the respective departments and the Mayor.
On motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by G.W. Baker, the City Attorney was in-
strutted to extend the present Sales Tax Ordinance .1hich expires June 30, 1948 to an
indefinite period.
Resolution No. 836 (New Series) - A Resolution providing for the Execution
of an Agreement with George Anholm regarding water system installed in Almond Street was
passed and adopted on motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall upon the following
roll call vote:
Ayes: G.W.Baker, Wm. 0. Hall, R.P.Howell, Timothy I. O'Reilly
Noes: None
Absent: Kline Williams
On motion of R.P.Howell, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, it was ordered that Guido
0. Ferini be appointed City Engineer on a permanent basis at a salary of $500 per month
as of May 1, 19480
On motion of G. W. Banker, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall, the meeting adjourned.
