Communications: 1 - From John Smee requesting an extension of 26 days time onthe Phillips Ad-In. Sanitary Supper Contract was nresentpd to the Council and was held over to June 18th and the City Clerk instructed to�-•ri.te Mr. Smee and have him request his extension at that time. 2 - Comm. from Veterans Administration submitting Notice of Renewal of Lease dated June 24, 1949 he txtended, beginning Judy 1, 1950 and ending June 30, 1951, and on motion of Wm. 0. Hall., seconded by Frank V.Woods the Mayor wp s authorized to sign the extension. 3 - Comm. from San Leis Obispo grange No. 639 requesting permission to accept contribute was granted on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall. 4 - Comm. from Divi_si.nn of Hip•hsays asking; for cancellation of city taxes on property acquired for hirrhwaNr purposes wns referred to the Commissioner of Public Works and Com- missionpr of Finance. 5 - Comm. from B. 7. Patchett, complaining about the smoke nuisance of the City Dump at Edna, was referred to the Board of Supervisors on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods. 6- Comm. from Pacific Tel. and Tel. Co. together with Company Bond in the amount of 1,2000 covering the obligor's plan= for excavating certain streets; on motion of Wm. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods the bond tiaas approved and surety accepted. 7- Petition filed by residents in Block 55 and 56 protesting change in zoning was ordered received and filed on motion of 1Tm. 0. Hall, seconded by Timothy I. O'Reilly. 8- Comm. from the State Tmnloyees Retirement System submitt;ng re -port on actuaries survey was held over for Co,incil's study and Commissioner Wm. 0. Hall to meet with City F,mploirepc on July 10th for discussion. The following applications for cit,r licenses and t•rensfers of Citlr Licenses were granted on motion of Frank V. Woods, seconded by Wm. 0. Hall: Transfer of license of A. A. Reed Pc Co. at 660 Iliguera St,. to '''qrd I. Cook of G. Torigiani for Alut Vending Machines to C. C. Lones Application for Lunch Counter License by Wm. L. '.Vest dba "West's Spudnut Shop" at 692 Higuera St. The apnl_i_ cation for transfer of citir license of the Associated Filling; Station at 110.8 Monterey St. as - efprred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for i.nvesti,aation and report. The anplication of Lawrence Pon,jour for rep;istration as Class "C" Contractor, together T,rith ''.S.Fidelity and Guaranty 0o. bond in the amount of '2000 and registration fee of 850.00 received and on motion of 14m. 0. Hall, seconded by Frank V. Woods it was ordered that the surety be accepted, bond approved and registration granted. Claims against the Citi, for the month of May, 1950 were ordered paid suhject to approval of the hear- of the respective departments and the Mayor. Ordinance No. 329 (New Series) - An Ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No 324 (Flew Series) entitled: Ordinance of the Cit,,r of San Luis Obispo imposing an excise tay on the use or other consumption of tangible personal property was passed to print on ?lotion of VIm. 0. Petersen Re: Crossing Guard The application for,transfer of the Park Hotel was again held over pending report from the State. The Proposed Reclar-sifying as(M -1 Tndustrial District) portions of Block 55 and 56 in the Citir of San Luis Obispo was Discussed by the Col,ncil at this time. The action followed the Planning Commission's decision of its May 18th meeting to recommend Re- zoning. Strons: protests by the home ovmers in the neirrhborhood led the Council to ask the Com- mission to reconsider. The Council overruled the Commission and Mayor O'Reilly assured the group it was NOT REZONED. The City Council accepted the resignation of the City Engineer, Guido Ferini, with great reluctance and profound regret. Mr. Ferini stated he would be glad to assist his successor in the office in any way possible ( effective date of resignation, July 5th, 1950) with a two weeks vacation granted.
