Report of City Fire Department for training for the month of January, 1957 was ordered i received and filed on motion of Warren G. Edwards, seconded by Nels Beck. OLD BUSINESS 1. Comm. from the San Luis Obispo County Bowmen's Association regarding the use of the City Hall basement for indoor archery range was ordered.held.over. 2. Request of Pacific Gas & Electric Company for right -of -way for the installation of underground distribution system through Municipal Parking Lot-No. 2 was ordered held over. 3. Comm. from the Cabrillo Civic.Clubs.of California regarding the renaming of Highway No. 1 to Cabrillo Highway or California Cabrillo Highway No. 1 was ordered received and filed on motion of Lowell E. Christie, seconded by Kenneth W. Jones. Resolution No. 1$8 (1957 Series) A Resolution Increasing the 1956 -57 Budget was passed and adopted on motion of Nels Beck, seconded by Kenneth W. Lucksin@ NOES: None ABSENT: None ,,,,;,{Claim for alleged personal injuries against the City by Elmo C. Sims was ordered received eland filed and a copy referred to the insurance carrier. Comm. from the Department of Public Works in Sacramento from Frank C. Balfour, Chief Right of Way Agent, regarding the request by the City of San Luis Obispo.for permission to sell a portion of the property adjacent to the freeway in San Luis Obispo purchased by the City from the State. Mr. Balfour stated that the City had already violated the deed in allowing the Madonna Construction Company to maintain a junk yard on property deeded to the public for park purposes; also that before the City would be allowed to sell this property at a profit, the State would refund to the City the amount paid and the State would realize the additional profit from the land. Mr. Richard D. Miller, City Administrative Officer, was instructed by the City Council to write Mr. Balfour stating that the City had ordered Madonna Construction Company to remove its junk from City property, which he was slowly doing, and also that the City wished to retain the property for possible park development in the future. Comm. from Division of Highways, District V, from A. M. Nash, District Engineer, regarding tz'17 his views on intelligent development of the interchange with U. S. Highway 101 Freeway and South San Luis Obispo. The communication was referred to Mr. David Romero to study the remarks of ►'fir. Nash. Mr. Richard D. Miller, City Administrative Officer, reported to the City Council regarding the proposed salary adjustments and working condition changes to-be considered when the nev Budget is studied.for the 1957 -58 year. Mr..Miller asked permission for all employees hired from here on in to be granted the one year probation period with the second step increase after six months and the third step at the end of one year. By common consent of the Council the request of Mr. Miller was approved. On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Warren G. Edwards, the meeting adjourned. Lucksinger Absent: None Introduction 6f Ordinance No. 39 (1957 Series) An Ordinance calling a special Municipal Bond Election in the City o San Luis 0 ispo for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said City the measure of incurring a bonded indebtedness of said City for the acquisiti construction and completion of the following municipal improvement, To Wit: Water Supply, declaring the estimated cost of said municipal improvement, the amount of the principal of said indebtedness to be incurred therefor, and the maximum rate of interest to be paid the making provision for the levy and collection of taxes; fixing the date of said election, the manner of holding the same, providing for notice thereof, and consolidating said special Municipal Bond Election with the General Municipal Election to be held in said City on.April 9, 1957, was passed to print on motion of Lowell E.
