At this time Mayor Lucksinger thanked the Council and Department Heads for their
1 cooperation in the past and urged that they give full cooperation to the
new Council.
Commander Gullickson, Assistant Director of Civil Defense for the City of San
Luis Obispo invited all members of.the City Council, the Adminisfrative Officer
and City Clerk to attend the all -day meeting of the Civil Defense Organizati on
at the War Memorial Building on May 2, 1959.
Commander Gullickson outlined the program for the.two -day meeting, listing
subjects and speakers, and emphasized the need for a strong Civil Defense
Organization in tie event of disaster.
< Mayor Lucksinger then congratulated the new members that were elected to the
Q City Council and asked them to take their seats at.the Council table..
Mayor Waters, presiding, called for roll call.
Present - Kenneth W. Jones., Donald Q. Miller, Gerald W. Shipsey, Fred s:
M. Waters
Absent - J. Barry Smith
Mayor Waters then assigned seats to the Councilmen at the Council table.
Communication was received from KATY requesting a proclamation by the Mayor,
declaring May as Radio Month in the City of San Luis Obispo.
The City Clerk presented for the Council's approval the bonds for Mayor Waters,
Councilman Miller and Councilman Shipsey.
On motion of Kenneth W. Jones, seconded by Gerald Shipsey, tte bonds were
approved and ordered filed.
There being no further business, the.meeting adjourned on motionof Kenneth W.
Jones, seconded by Donald Q. Miller.
